Cell Phone??

I need to start saving money and wondering if there are Cell Phones you can buy that are not Smart Phones?

Phone you can text and talk and with a camera on, and that does not use a Data Plan or Wifi.

I dont need apps or to access the internet or anything else.

Is it possible to find these type of phones?

I know nothing about cell phones and smart phones but if you just need basic things, why not go on the tracphone website and see all their phones? I have a very basic tracphone. Mine might be too basic for you. You can take picture with it and I guess you can text -- although I never did and don't know how.

I have no plan - all I do is purchase a phone card at Walmart every 90 days and it costs me around $22. Maybe this would work for you.???

That is a good suggestion but I was hoping for a cell phone that I wouldnt have to pay for minutes or anything, other than buying the phone. Dont know if it is possible though.

How do you think you will connect if you don't access either through a cellular or WiFi connection? You need one to do what you want. Tracfone is about the cheapest plan you can buy.

I use a tracphone. However if you are a member of AARP or AAA they offer different phone plans for their members. You may want to see if they have anything that you are looking for. Good Luck

Look at Boostmobile.com or metropcs.com.They have some inexpensive plans. You have to look carefully or maybe call or try to find a store. Some of the plans can be expensive but they do have some that are manageable. Most of the phones are still smartphones but you can just use it for what you want and maybe 1 or 2 basic phones you can pick from.

Just a thought you might want to consider as well is phone reception! Some of the smaller companies don't have good reception to call or receive calls. What good is a cheap plan/phone if it doesn't work?

I have a Tracfone flip phone which costs me less than $70 a year. Since I only use my phone for emergencies and make very few calls a year, I just buy a cheap plan then buy a $49 extended service for one year.

A long time ago I had a flip phone that you could text on. It is very difficult to text on a phone that isn't a smart phone. It's not that it won't work. It's just hard to do. You can probably buy a very inexpensive smart phone with Tracfone. I don't think you can find a less expensive plan than what they have. I don't have a Tracfone but looked at them one time a couple of years ago for my father.

Also, you said you needed to start saving money and that's why you're doing this. Do you have a smart phone now? With Tracfone you can bring your own phone. I think you could do this by disconnecting your current plan and using the same phone with Tracfone. Someone more kowledgeable than I could tell you this.

check out cell phones by tracfone on both Qvc and HSN...for the best deals....

also read here on" electronics" as there is also a topic about tracphones and recommendations.

@CherryHugs , if you plan on taking photos with the phone, unless you put them on an SD card, you will need data or wi-fi to transfer them.

I have a phone plan with AT&T. Don't recall if I paid anything for the phone but my plan costs $25 for 3 months. Each call/text is 25 cents a minute. I can also take pictures. It's a flip phone and I love it.

Hope never to have to get a smartphone. Don't want one, don't need one.

@CherryHugs. You're always going to have to pay some company for service. Phone service is not free. I paid about $80. for a TracFone smart phone which came with 1500 free minutes, data, text and phone. When my year of service expires, I buy another year for about $50., so that's what it costs me to use my phone for a year. I use the phone very little so I never run out of time.
