DH knows how to get around that. He did when we had cable. He used splitters & I don't know what else.

I have been trying to get him to install a new antenna outside for our local channels. I can drop my DISH package down to basics while I try Netflix, Hulu etc to see what I want for TV programming.

I'm sick of paying $130 per month for nothing. There is hardly anything on TV worth watching to pay that.

If I'm not mistaken, that's how cable and satellite companies make money ...by selling you a box (service) for each TV you have. So you would need to call your cable company to get their service (a box) for each additional TV you have. I don't think there's any legal way around that.

It depends on your cable provider. Some providers scramble every channel, and you need a box to unscramble them. Others may scramble most channels but leave some unscrambled. You'll be able to view the unscrambled channels by connecting the cable directly to the back of your TV set. At least, that's the way it worked with Time Warner until a couple years ago.

Try it - I think there's no harm in it.

A splitter will work. Then you will need to run a cable from that splitter to your other TV. The problem is with the type of cable you use. Some cables are not shielded and what that means is the cable will 'leak' a signal which can trigger an alert to your cable company and they might want to contact you regarding the 'leak'. Leaks are considered to be the illegal use of cable services, ones that are not paid for and you'll end up having to pay for the extra TV services. So just be aware of using splitters.

I know this can happen because it happened to me.

I have RCN cable and have 2 TV's and 2 cable boxes. They charge $4.00 a month per box. Not sure that what you are saying would work. I get so annoyed with them as again my TV's guide is not working. This is the 7th time in 10 months. Called again this A.M. and they sent the signal and unplugged the box again. Still not working. If other choices had my local channels, etc. I'd get rid of them.

I used to be able to do that with Comcast. I used a spliter and ran a cord through the wall board into the next room. Can't do that anymore. Xfinity makes you rent a box in order to receive their signals.

Up until about a year ago you could easily do that with Spectrum. Just plug cable directly into wall from TV because cable signal came into entire house, not into individual sets. Now they have gotten greedy and went to all digital signal requiring a large cable box for each TV at a hefty monthly rental fee per box. No way was I going that route since I have 3 wall mounted TVs with no room for those giant receiver boxes that are nearly as large as the old VCR boxes. All about the $ for Spectrum. I now have only one Spectrum receiver box on my bedroom TV--all other TVs have a Roku stick. Works ok, but I did have to purchase one of those $50 Netgear signal extenders to get my WIFI signal downstairs and all the way out to my back porch. Rates keep going up, channels are being deleted, and now Spectrum wants me to use them for my cell phone carrier. In a pig's eye. I'm old enough to remember when cable service first came to our neighborhood for a flat $7 per month.
