topic HP Laptop - issues in Electronics

I have the HP laptop that was a TSV last November. I had not used it immediately, only started using it when my older laptop had issues as I was logging in from home to work, sometime last spring.

I have started having major issues with the laptop, did a recover at least 2 to 3 times, thought it was a bit better. Ironically, my old laptop is working better. Now, I got a warning message about issues with the disk drive. Trying to do a backup and that is erring out - unsuccessful, so I'm trying again.

I am certain this thing should be under warranty. Has anyone else experienced issues with this laptop? Also, what was your experience with HP like?

As I work from home several days a week, I can't wait to have a backup if my old laptop decides it no longer wants to cooperate, so I'll be headed to Best Buy for a new laptop, most likely tomorrow (close to work and I work in the office on Monday). I've heard good things about Toshiba (old tv I have will not die, which is unfortunate as I'd like to get a flat screen), and Acer. Not looking to spend a lot. The HP that has issues was under $700, and they kept saying, as they always do, oh this will last for years. Right.

Ironically, today they have a Dell TSV. I think I'll stick with Best Buy and get the warranty for Geek Squad.
