To Scroll Down a Page Do You Push UP or DOWN?

I have a track pad to scroll. So does my husband. He pushes up on the pad to scroll down, I pull down on it to scroll down. It would be the same with a mouse I guess.

Anyway, it drives me NUTS when I use his computer! LOL!!!

So I thought I would take a poll here: To scroll down a page, do you push up or down?

I know this is nothing but silly, but I HAD to ask!

Down. I hate track pads. I always use a mouse.

When I'm reading I just press the wheel in the middle down so it will go down the page slowly as I'm reading.

When using the tablet or laptop with touchscreen I go up. LOL!!!

If you use a Apple mouse, it's default setting is to push up to scroll down. My sister loved it, I hated it. You can change it in settings but, I want a scroll wheel. So, I bought and use a conventional mouse.

I'm not sure whether it is up or down. I use laptops with mouses. I use a Marble Mouse (best mouse ever!).

So, to scroll down a page I put my hand over the mouse, put the cursor on that bar at the right of the page, then hold down the left thing with my left ring finger (I'm left-handed), and scroll the ball toward me, with the forefinger, for down and away from me for up.

To be honest, I've used these same mouses (mices? meeces? ) since the year 2000 so I don't even remember before that.

One thing for sure, and I've been using laptops now for about 12 years, I really HATE the scrolly pad thing on a laptop. I definitely need a mouse and I like the Marble Mouse because you don't move the mouse around. Your hand fits right over it and you push things with different fingers, so that precludes the problems people used to get from those mouses that you have to move around.

I'm surprised how many different ways people control the scroll function on either the touch pad or a mouse. I thought I knew what a Marble Mouse is but, I did a Google search to make sure. Don't take this personally chickenbutt but, I've never used a mouse I disliked more. I'm so glad we have choices because I'd probably stop using a computer if I had to use a Marble Mouse full time.

I think the same thing can be said about the type of computers. Some love using a tablet and others prefer to use a desktop. I hope we continue to have choices and the industry doesn't only offer what the majority likes to use.

I'm on my Macbook Air & I scroll down....it just makes sense to me to scroll down if I'm going down a page. The opposite would drive me crazy!

@haddon9 Ah ha! So you put your fingers on the pad and pull them down to make the page go up---thereby scrolling down visually? That's what I do.

And yes hubby's computer drives me nuts. The way it is set up it's like you'd have to push something UP to look down the page. And it's backwards sideways too by the way!!!!! LOL!!!

Hi G! Oh, totally cool. Hey, I'm one for choices, too. Lots of stuff I might love like crazy and others cannot stand, and vice versa.

The Marble Mouse was really a game changer for me and my specific circumstances, which is why I've recommended it for ages. I'm sorry it was a bad experience for you and I completely understand.

Fortunately, I'm not thin-skinned so that I cannot handle different opinions. I've learned lots of valuable stuff from you over the years so I always read what you have to say, whether we agree or not.

I also hope they don't stop making certain things. For example, I absolutely love using laptops but I see so much going towards smaller types like the tablets and such. No problem here, as long as I can still purchase what works for me, too.
