topic Can anyone help with Wii vs. Xbox Kinect? in Electronics

I am fairly 'techie' in some areas - but definitely NOT where gaming is concerned. I am trying to decide between purchasing the Wii versus the Xbox kinect package. It would be nice to say this is for a child at Christmas, but no, it's for me. I've wanted the Wii fitness stuff since last year but never got it. Now xbox has come out with the kinect, so I'm not sure which to buy. From what I can tell, the kinect uses no handheld controllers which I think would be nice for some sports stuff, but not so great for others (like tennis or golf where I think you'd like to have something in your hand to simulate the game IRL.) From what I can tell, the graphics are better/less cartoonish in xbox systems vs. wii, which appeals to me. Also, I think you can use the xbox as a dvd/blueray player and it can go online and the wii cannot. (I think?) I also know that the wii has more sports/fitness games at this point versus the xbox. I'd really only be using this for sports/fitness stuff and not other 'gaming.'

Can anyone comment or suggest one over the other that might help me to decide between the two?
