Not good. Anyone hear what is going on? Also Yahoo appears down in some areas.

You are very lucky. It is down in much of the east, Florida, Texas, Washington state, Illinois, the uk, Australia. Just twitter posts I remember.

I'm in Kansas and have no aol email service. It's been down for awhile.

There are numerous reports on the internet.

This notice was just posted on AOL Customer Support's official Twitter account:

"Some customers are reporting an issue with logging into Yahoo and AOL due to a server error. We are aware and working to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!"

As a side note:

When you think your mail provider or a website is out of service -- you get error messages, cannot connect, etc. -- there are sites that provide updates, reports and even constantly-updated outage maps (example: DownDetector.com).

The easiest and quickest thing to do is an internet search of something like "yahoo mail down" or "aol mail down" and you'll see all the choices.

AOL just went back on for me. Was off for hours as well as their phone number and Assist phone number.

mine just came back too. Just read they are slowly bringing the servers back online. They were down a couple of hours.
