I'm the OP and I packed up my Samsung Chromebook and sent it to them. I dropped it off at Staples on 8/2, I tracked it (UPS) and it was received on 8/4. I get an email from Samsung they received it on 8/6, don't know why the discrepancy. Anyway I get a phone call from Samsung today they found nothing wrong with it and will be sending it back. Of course they found nothing wrong, it doesn't happen all the time I should have known it wouldn't happen while they had it. She made me feel like I was either lying or was crazy that something is wrong with it. Why would I send it away if there wasn't something wrong with it? I'm sure it will happen again, by then the warranty will have expired. I told her how unhappy I was with this chromebook and that I would never buy a Samsung again, she didn't care.

I got my Chromebook back from Samsung today. I had to call them for updates on my chromebook, they didn't send me any emails. First I was told there was nothing wrong with it (this was Tuesday last week) and they were getting ready to send it back. I complained there was definitely something wrong with it, they must have looked at it again because they kept it. I get an email it was sent out on August 10 (Friday). I call about an update on my chromebook and was told they made up a label on Friday, it will be going out today (this was yesterday Monday). She also gives me a whole list of things that were wrong and fixed. I told her I got a call last week and they told me nothing was wrong with it, she says there is no record of a call and didn't know anything about it. It seems one department doesn't know what the other department is doing.

Back in early August of this year I was having trouble with my chromebook, it was still under warranty by Samsung so I sent it to them. They found nothing wrong with it and sent it back to me. Now about 2 months later I'm having the same trouble. I called Amazon (where I bought it) and was on the phone for an hour. The rep hooked me up with a nice CR from Assurant. I have to have the chromebook repaired again (I have only had it for 14 months). The rep from Assurant didn't have proof I bought the chromebook from Amazon, I had to email the receipt to them, They are sending a box to me so I can ship it back to them. I asked the rep at what point do I either get a refund or a new chromebook if they keep trying to repair the same problem, he didn't know. I will not be buying any big electronics from Amazon any more, at least when I purchased something from Best Buy, I could bring it in to have them look at it in the store (I always get a contract). I am so disappointed.

@Jordan2 wrote:

Hi Jordan,

I hope that they can resolve this issue for you.

I have an HP Chromebook and sometimes it has issues where it will show that it's not connected to the Internet over on the bottom right-hand corner of our screens. It wouldn't keep a connection after coming out of sleep mode, even though everything was fine with the router, and my husband's Chromebook didn't have this problem or the older Windows laptop that I also have set up and working, doesn't have this connection problem, either.

I have been trying to figure out what the problem is, and even tried a trouble-shooting app. from the Chrome store. It couldn't find anything wrong because the problem wasn't happening at the time. So frustrating...

Anyway...

From what I can figure out myself, I think that the problem has to do with the Chromebook's hibernating/sleep mode. I installed an app. that lets you keep it on in "day light" if you want to do that, and that seems to keep it from disconnecting.

I haven't found a way to play around with the sleep settings.

As we know, a Chromebook has its own operating system, and there are limited things that you can do with it.

It's not like a Windows PC or a Mac, where there are things that you can check and do with it to try and trouble-shoot it if you need to.

@Toppers3, I could have gotten a much cheaper chromebook, this one set me back $499 plus the protection plan. I just feel like I have been taken advantage of, I spent a lot of money for it, have only had it for slightly over a year, I should be happier with it.

He just doesn't have the same type of issues that mine has...

I think that I know what the problem is with it. It just seems that I have to keep at it and tinker around with it.

I would definitely get another Chromebook when the time comes, as I have generally been pleased with it.

I think that it's a matter of just knowing what to look for next time around.

Okay, so I have to brag on myself, I am not a techie savant, I'm not that knowledgeable in regards to computers ( I never really tried as my brother was my go to, since he passed away a few years ago I have been on my own). I got my chromebook back yesterday from Assurant, they did a software reload (the screen was freezing up at times, this is the second time it has been fixed in the 14 months I have had it). It's like having a brand new chromebook out of the box, I had to set it up again. I had a heck of a time hooking up my printer to the chromebook first time around, I wasn't sure I would be able to do it again. I'm happy to report, I figured it out! Now I hope this software reload will fix my problem for good.
