I decided to spend $30 more and get the LG Fiesta 2 Tracfone. It has more RAM/faster processor/13mp camera, which to many are important features.

Both have a quad core processor, but RAM and faster processor is always a good thing. Those that take pictures with there phones it's 5mp versus 13mp.

I hardly use my cell, but when I do, these were worth the $30 to me.

I bought it for the minutes and 1 yr service. I transfer them to my present because I like it.

To me, a phone is a phone. I do text and use the camera occasionally. If I want to surf the web, I have a desktop, a laptop and 3 Kindles that have a bigger screen to use.

This is the best deal I have seen in a long time for minutes!

Likewise, I prefer my current phones, but was thinking about buying this for the same reason you did @Zhills.

I have one phone that needs more airtime by August.

Someone posted the How-to move the airtime and minutes from a new purchase to an already active smartphone, and I've been looking for that thread, but can't find it.

Care to tell how that's done, please?

@hckynut John, I see that you bought the Fiesta and I am also looking at it and have been for almost one year. I may buy before Sept. unless something else better pops up. I think the Fiesta is the best option for now.

The one I bought is the Fiesta 2. Haven't got around to activating it yet, but it expires in August, so gotta get going on it before long. Plenty good, and more, for my use. Looks like a good one to me judging from the reviews and specs.

@hckynutYes, it does look like a good buy. My presentSamsung expires in Sept. so I have to decide if I want to stay with the one I have or tradeup for the Fiesta 2, which is 16gb rather than 8, and also has the 13 pix. camera, which I really don't use much at all. It also has the 7.0 nougat and 7.1 may be the highest out there for Tracfone. Do you know if there is an OS higher than 7.1?

If I stay with my Samsung I can extend service for 365 days for $50 with tracfone, which is what I did last August.

My Samsung is 3 years old and has the 5.0 OS in it. I added to it because of keeping triple minutes etc. Piled up enough to last the rest of my life, so decided to upgrade this year. Like you, my cell is pretty much only for an emergency, or an occasion long distant call. We don't have long distance on our landline, so it comes in handy for me at times.

Don't know how high the Android OS goes now, but 7.0 is a big improvement over my 5.0, good enough for my uses. Still haven't got around to activating it, so can't comment on much, except it is HUGE next to my old Samsung, not sure if that is good or bad for me.

Unless you want the newer OS, if it were me I would pay the $50 and stay with the Samsung, if it meets your needs. Guess I just wanted a newer, maybe faster/easier phone, but I didn't know about the $50/365 extension.

@Big Sister, Oreo 8.1 was released in December 2017, but to the best of my knowledge, Tracfone has no phone with this operating system yet. Nougat 7.1.2 was released in August of 2016, so I would think that Tracfones with Oreo would come out before too long. That's what I'm waiting and hoping for anyway as my phone has Marshmallow 6.0 and expires next May. If my phone is still working well and Marshmallow is still supported...and Oreo isn't out by the time I need to refill...I will do what you do and just buy a year's worth of service.

Even if the year's service and minutes/texts/data aren't already pre-loaded on the new phone (and they HAVE been for the past few years) Tracfone had already put the kibosh on adding the minutes bundle to a different phone. So anyone saying they're doing this now...isn't.

I have no idea about the different operating systems. I know I bought a phone from HSN in 6/17. I really like it and rather than buying I new one, I purchased another year's service for $53.30. I seldom use the phone so have more minutes than I'll ever use.

If you are a person who is either hard on your phone or likes to update your phone annually, you can usually get a good deal for way under $100. I believe I paid around $70 last year from HSN.

I added my new minutes to my already in use, Tracfone on this deal and so did my BFF. They don't do it automatically, you have to ask them to do it, but they do.....or did last week!

That was a good price for the Fiesta at HSN. I have the one I got last summer and love it, so I passed on this. In addition, the only difference between the Fiesta 2 and the Fiesta is that the F2 has 2 RAM (instead of the F1's 1.5). I don't run a bunch of simultaneous apps, so I couldn't care less about that. Screen size, camera, OS, and 16GB internal are all the same for both models. I like the 5.5" screen size, so I don't even know if I want to go much larger than that IF it's offered next year.

Can't beat the price for a year's service and 1500 minutes. I kept my same phone and just added the minutes to my current phone.
