Amazon Show or Spot? love it?

I'm considering the Show or the Spot On Amazon Prime day

I have 2 dots & love them.

DS#2 is moving to Dallas. I'm thinking we could do video calls. New baby due in September.

The Show is $100 off.

I ordered two of the Shows and received them Thursday. So far I am really pleased with them. The speakers sound very good and the screen is large enough to actually watch! And for the special pricing, I couldn’t resist.

When the Show first came out I wanted it badly but didn't like the price. Now that the price has gone down, I'm wondering if I really need it? I'm like the only one with Kindles that I know, so I probably wouldn't chat with anyone. I'm thinking is this a "toy" that I have to have?

I have 2 shows and I probably couldn't function without them. I'm serious. I have one at home and one at my business.

I have them linked to my calendar on my phone. Every event shows up on my show constantly so I can't forget it. I don't even have to have my phone. I can add things to my calendar using the show. We run a business and I never forget deliveries, or ordering things anymore. I put them all on my show.

I use it for reminders such as blowing out the candles, or calling so and so.

I put birthdays on it.

I use the timer feature constantly. I can send text to people without raising a finger.

The time and temp. is always there. I can go on and on. It is a very functional item!

I pre-ordered the Show when it first came out as I didn't have any other Echo devices and was glad I waited for this version.

While I don't do video calls, I did purchase the Echo Connect so that I can use it for regular phone calls (no one I know has a Show, but that may change after tomorrow ;o)

I have a townhouse and I keep my show on the main level on my island so I can see it as I move around the main level. I like that it has the time and weather and I have my google calendar synced, so I can see upcoming appointments as a constant reminder every time I walk by.

I don't use 90% of the features, but I'm glad I have it.

I'm really wanting this. The only person I would ever video call would be my son & his family, when they move to Dallas. I'm really scared of linking anything to my phone. But I will want to see them when they move away! they're having another baby in the fall. I'm thinking I could unplug it unless I'm talking to them..

@Mary Bailey My gadgetitus as DH calls it kicked in this afternoon. I've always wanted a Show. We have the original Echo in the LR. A Dot in the BR and DH's garage...that one (the garage) is hooked up to I don't know 5 speakers thru an amp and I have a Fire Stick on the TV in my studio. The Stick we took on vacation and hooked it up to the TV in our cottage we rented...it worked out well. We also have 2 Apple TVs.

I have an iphone, an iPad mini and an Air...DH has an Air..I just can't help myself at times. When Amazon took off $100.00 I gave in and bought it...DW

as a tech toys person I am sort of late to this party, but I got 2 dots this week, I kind of like her, my reason was to operate my Sonos speakers.

trying to decide if I should keep the 2nd one, how do you use the 2nd?

Mr JTB not interested in it all

also got the Firestick which was a bargain at $20

@jackthebearI always listen to music in the shower so I have one in the bathroom. Since i just got the Show for my office (I work at home mostly) the 2nd Dot will where ever it's needed: family room, patio, dining room etc

i just found some really nice holders for the Dot that plug into the wall and get it off the counter.

@jackthebear I have a Show in the kitchen and a Dot in the bedroom. I use the bedroom one to check the temperature and weather to decide what to wear for the day. I add things to my shopping list as I think of stuff I need. Sometimes I'm in the bedroom when I think of things and if I wait until I go to the kitchen to put it on my list, I've totally forgotten it by then. Sad huh? LOL I also listen to the news in the morning. We have a TV in our bedroom and occasionally I ask if a certain tv/movie star that I'm seeing in a show is alive or how old they are. If I'm in the bedroom I can talk to my husband in the kitchen and vise versa. I also play noises to go to sleep by such as thunderstorms, crickets, etc.
