I have always bought a Pansonic Lumix - my most recent is an Panasonic LUMIX ZS60 from Costco - 30x zoom. There are newer models. I loved my old Lumix but it didn't have wireless, so I couldn't transfer photos to my tablet unless I did it thru my computer.

It has more bells and whistles than I'll ever use, so I just keep it on automatic. Had to re-set it once as I hit a button that changed the resolution but that did not delete my wireless settings so I was happy. I also bought a spare battery and battery charger for it.

Most wireless transfers are done thru apps specific to each company that sells the camera.

My BF has a really easy to use Samsung model WB - the sharing feature on this is even easier. He can post to facebook directly from the camera. It's a few years old.

Good luck on your search!

I haven't used an actual camera in over 20 years, all I use is my cell phone.

Well, we went to Maui took some AMAZING photos and I tried to get them blown up and can't, lose resulution and aren't quality enough to be blown up.

So, I am on a quest to buy a "GOOD" camera that will take high quality photo's that I can blow up.

I know I have some reading to do to get educated, I'm pretty clueless, but I thought I would ask on here, maybe you all have some suggestions or good feedback for me.

Really want to keep it under 500.00 - I see there are some for 4900.00!! EEKS That's the camera I would end up losing while on vacation, just like GOOD sunglasses, if I buy cheap ones I have them forever, buy and expensive pair and I lose them HAHA

I highly recommend Canon cameras. I took a Canon SX40 with me to Africa a few years ago and took amazing photos and enlarged quite a few to 8x10, could have done larger but didn't want to, and now have a wall full of wonderful pictures that I'm told time and again look like professional photos. I now have a Canon SX60 which is the next step up with a bit more zoom and love it too. Its a point and shoot, with the zoom in the camera so no changing lenses, icons are easy to understand, although I do suggest keeping the manual with you just in case, and it takes fabulous photos.

Before I purchased the Canon SX60, I went to an actual camera store and asked to see it, play with it, etc., and they were great. They knew their cameras and allowed me to try others too so I could be sure the Canon SX60 was the right choice for me. So I suggest, if you can, once you have done your research and have picked out a couple possibilities to go to an actual camera store - not a big box store - and spend as long as you want trying out the different cameras.

I always recommend looking at CNET dot com for electronics information. When you go there just click on the REVIEWS tab then look for CAMERAS under TOP CATEGORIES. You can also use the drop-down from REVIEWS tab and this will give you a place to choose your price range, type of camera as well as brands. From there you can view Reviews, Best Cameras and a Buying Guide. This site will also give you prices and direct you to places where you will find the items you are looking for.

I have a Lumix that has a zoom lens that is just perfect for taking all kinds of pictures. It has a rechargable battery so you always know how much power you have and can charge it when it is time.

I also agree that Walgreens is great for printing and enlarging pictures. I have also copied many old family photos and they have turned out very well.

@SandGirl A Canon camera is a coup! You'll fall in love. Like another poster said, take your time in a real camera store and ask questions, learn about the options and get a good feel for the camera you are seriously considering before buying. Great advice!

I also recommend Walgreen's for all kinds of prints and anything you want to do with your photos. They are amazing. (Some of their photo techs are better than others. Get to know them personally. You'll figure out whom to trust with your big projects.) Have fun!

Something you might want to consider instead of buying a new camera is simply tweaking the resolution of the photos that come out of your phone using software like Photoshop. In that software you can change the number of pixels and tweak additional settings to make lower resolution photos look pretty darn impressive. Google "changing a photo's resolution" and you can find articles and YouTube demonstrations showing you exactly what to do. You're not going to make enlargements of every photo you take, and if you're generally happy with the quality of the images you get from the phone, this might be your best option.
