It’s time to get a new TV & I always have intrigued with the curved aspect. It has been a couple years since there have been any posts on this forum about these. Any personal experiences or input? I am looking at the 55” size. I am hesitant to buy another Samsung due to the chronic issues Samsung TVs in general about turning on/off randomly that I am currently experiencing (google is loaded with this issue). I am also looking at the regular Sony TVs thinking the curved aspect is just hype even though they look so amazing. TIA!

All are 1080P capable, with our 65" being a curved 4k. The only reason I chose this model was because it had more features I wanted(HDR/Octacore processor/Connect One), which other models those were not available. Ours is a JS9000 model, not sure what year, but the JS denotes the year?

Our TV looks great, on or off, but as far as the curve? If this model were available without the curve, for a cheaper price, I would have bought it. I looked very critically at curved versus flat, and I would never pay more for a curve. To me, if it isn't huge, at least 110" like my front projector, for me the curve does nothing.

Movie theater giant screens it can easily be seen. Our 65" even 7' away doesn't do a thing for me. Some like it a say it looks more immersive. If I want immersive I switch my programming over to 3D, now that and true 4k, are really immersive to me. 4k because even the background of scenes is just as focused and clear as the "only upfront clear focus" which is the best 1080P can show.

Most of my electronic video equipment is Samsung anr I can't say 1 negative thing about any of them.

I had a smaller one in my living room but it didn't work out so well because of some reflection from windows in the room. I had to move that curved TV into another room and then I bought a larger flat screen to replace it which appears much better without all the reflections going on with that other curved one I had.

That said, the thin TV sets really do not have much room to be able to produce very good audio. Older sets had the huge bezels in which they could add bigger speakers a more a higher wattage audio.

While my Samsung audio is "ok" for watching news and those types of shows, it is sorely lacking, for me, when it comes to TV shows with Dolby 5.1 surround sound, especially the 1 hour shows, and the few movies I watch.

I have a always had a separate surround sound system hooked up to all our TV sets, and our 110" front projector. Really never used a Sound Bar so can't really say anything about them, but!! I would think they would certainly produce better sound than the TV set. Curved Sound Bar, don't see any benefit to that over a straight one.

Getting car maintenance done right now will check your TV model number when I get back home. Any kind of soundbar will be better than listening to just the TV itself. I've always had my TV hooked up to a home theater system. Of course, I have the option to not use it but it makes a huge difference for me, especially since now I can listen to I-Heart Radio streaming on my smartie pants TV.
