I know on my device the thumbnails just look like a paper so names like "IMG001, IMG002, etc." I think you have to press and hold on each one and rename it to something that you'll recognize. IOW, I wanted to text/email someone and my iPhone only gave me what was in the iPhoto or camera to add attachment (I could not access anything I had backed up on my Google Drive. I went to "Files" and "Recent" and click on each thumbnails to see what it was and after I found the pic I was looking for, it gave me an option to email/text, etc., the photo.

I mostly use Google Drive since I have 150 GB storage and it's easier for me to use as far as sharing, etc.

I could not find a way to make Google Drive/Google Photos my default app on the iPhone.

I have a refurbished iPad 2 . Have received several suggestions from this group for several different issues. Last week increased problems with iPad turning off, screens and keyboard freezing, and pages constantly reloading. Have done everything to reset, deleted several apps. Today, DH gave me a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 that he purchased 2 years ago and about 3 years ago I had a brand new Samsung Gaiaxy Tab 2. The one I had- DH tried to install a new battery and really messed it up.

I was was able to set the tablet up but having issues with email accounts trying to set up but getting messages that password or user ID not available. Not sure if Samsung customer service would help after two years. No manual with tablet just a quick start quite. Any suggestions greatly appreciated, SouthernBee

I had a problem some time ago when I got locked out of it because of that darn fingerprint recognition. I called Samsung CS and got a gal who was dumb as a post, however she was willing to try. In the end, I had to do a complete restore and lost everything I had filed, like photos, music, etc.

There is available one of those "books for dummies"

for the S2. Unfortunately mine is misplaced. Try calling Samsung CS. I think there are some online boards for customer problems and questions.

@SouthernBeeThere also might be a Samsung message board, a community you can ask for help. I know Apple has a community that people are always asking questions on.

Look around the Samsung website. Usually way down the bottom of the front page of any website there is a choice of "site map". If you find that, it will list everything available on the website. Look for "forum", "community", "message board" or any term like that.

I have done this several times on different devices and never had any problems after. That is a last ditch effort if nothing else can be done.

My switching is still a WIP. I’ve bought the Android for Dummies book but haven’t started reading it yet. I got some help at the Verizon store and if not 100% good to go, at least much more than I was.

I have my i-devices set to back up to i-Cloud automatically, as well as the phone to the Google cloud (Google Drive?).

What’s making me nuts lately is that I can’t figure out how to make Google Photos my default on my iPad and not my native iPad photo app. Google photos has populated with everything that’s in my i-folder, but it won’t do vice-versa.

Whenever I go to post a photo to FB or attach a photo to an email, ONLY the iPhoto album pops up. It never gives me a choice to choose from the Google photos folder.

I’ve gone over both the phone and my iPad settings, and I can’t see anything I’m missing to get this to happen. At this point, I have to click on each photo in the Google album that I took on the phone and “copy” them one at a time to the i-album. Surely there must be a better way! And am I using more storage doing that?

@Runner26, thank you for verifying that is no simple, easy option thanks to Apple :-(

I think my “Copy” option is maybe easier/faster than what you have done, but it’s still certainly not fast as it’s one at a time, If I were to take a couple dozen photos...aargh! I will try what you’ve suggested, though, for single shots.

But yes, Apple is never helpful when it comes to anything that’s not an i-device. I once went into an Apple store to get some help after an iOS upgrade - couldn’t sync photos with my laptop.

”I don’t know.”

“I don’t own a PC, I have a Mac.”

”I can’t help you.”

”I have no idea.”

You get the picture....

AHA!

@Runner26 -

Open your photo in Google Photos. Click on it to get the large photo. There are three dots in the top right corner. When you click on the dots, one of your choices is “Download.” Click on this and you will see it “saving” with a progress bar, and when it’s done it says - Saved to Camera Roll.” Voilá!

I do wonder if it takes up double space on the iPad, but I think probably not. At least it’s doable fairly easily and not a total pain. I can live with it :-)
