I want to replace my Toshiba laptop which is about 5 years old. The Toshiba has been a good product however I'd like to try another brand....maybe a Sony or Lenovo. A number of years ago in the office I had an IBM laptop (now Lenovo and don't know what they're like now) and loved it better than any Toshiba, HP, or Dell machine (hated this one) they gave me.

I'm interested in an ultrabook since I want something more lightweight. I did look at Apple MacBook Air's and just can't justify the price for what you get so I'm not interested in Apple.

Ultrabooks don't typically have cd/dvd drives. Is there any downside to this? I can't remember the last time I actually used it on my Tobshia. I typically back up eveything on thumb drives and don't burn any cds. I'm just thinking if I don't get the drive I'll be looking for it one day but I guess there's always an external drive if needed.

Any thoughts/recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

ETA: My use would be just to access the internet, mail, and need to be able to load MSOffice.
