That fixed it.

I guess every once in a while you have to give it a reboot. I haven't rebooted it since I got it a few weeks ago.

I have an Echo Show question, but it applies to all Echos.

How often do you reboot your device? My Show has been showing the temperature of 90 degrees on the screen for days. I am going to try rebooting to see if it changes.

I have the 2nd gen DOT which I purchsed 12/16. Rebooted it January 2017. Haven't found a reason to do so since.

The DOT manual nor its troubleshooting site makes no mention that you should "reboot" on some sort of schedule. Rebooting should be done as a last resort after all other troubleshooting methods have been done.

Rebooting is the first and easiest things I do when trouble shooting a problem. Sometimes a device can get "wonky" for no apparent reason. I don't have an Echo but, I reboot or start my computers and phone at least once a week.

You can use the Echo app to reset your device.

My Echo is plugged into the same surge protector as my large screen tv but I switch it off anyway when there's a thunderstorm. Back on when the storm has passed by.
