Well, I guess Tracfone and QVC have parted ways.

I noticed the TS today & would appreciate your thoughts ... pros, cons, or whatever.

there's nothing wrong with Tracfone's, any of them, triple minutes for life (never keep it anyway more than a year since getting a new phone is sometimes cheaper than paying the $100 a year renewal fee.

No cons as far as i'm concerned, for roughly $100 a YEAR a phone, that's a great deal.

I have bought my many Tracfones from another retailer. I ordered that Samsung phone back months ago. It took my order and I kept looking for when it would be delivered. After 2 weeks, I called their CS, and they said my order was cancelled.

By whom? They told me their distribution center, because that particular Samsung, would not work in my area code. Nice! So after 2 weeks of waiting, I then ordered my Samsung Galaxy Luna. Smaller screen with only 1200 stuff, but good enough for me. It was $99.95

I've been resisting getting a smart phone, and have been happy with my current phone bought a hundred years ago with a Verizon plan. Problem is, I have about 200 phone numbers in my contacts, and there seems to be no way to download or print them out. Verizon will be happy to transfer them to a new phone, but I'm not going for another contract, even with my employer discount. So I guess I'd have to hand write all the names and phone numbers! ugh

My sister, a Tracfone lover, suggested I just get one and start playing with it, and keep the Verizon phone for another month or two .... until I'm sure I actually want a smart phone. Duh!

I emailed her the phone webpage and she said the only thing she would change is to get a bigger memory card and put it in BEFORE I start loading it.

Apparently, she got hers, and had it for a while before getting a card for more memory. When she installed it, everything she had on the phone deleted! grrr.

TracPhone may not be parting ways with QVC. They have also been on HSN for a while with the same plan, maybe added Evine to the mix. No complaints with mine except the phone is smarter than I am. I renew my yearly contract and got the triple minutes again, old minutes carry over if you have them -- all online (initial activation also done online). My counsin just bought one through QVC. One issue I believe is if you carryover your old phone number and decide not to keep TracPhone you lose the ability to use that number going forward. Also you can phone into foreign countries but you are not able to phone from foreign countries. So, If you plan to travel and get confirmation flight emails, that be be an issue - but I'm not 100% sure sure about that and maybe someone here or at TracPhone could tell you.

I've seen so many vendors leave QVC .... and end up on another shopping channel. When Tracfone showed up on Evine, I assumed they & the Q had parted ways. Never seen a vendor on more than one shopping channel before. Hey, maybe this is the exception. Who knows?

@Tinkrbl44 I briefly saw a bit of their presentation this morning and it seemed like a different plan than what QVC and HSN offer. Seemed like free everything for a set fee every month, sort of like the Cricket plan. They didn't mention all the minutes you usually get.

I hope everyone who gets a new phone every year is either recycling or donating their old phone. Electronic devices have a lot of toxic parts and should never be put into the landfil.

@Tinkrbl44, I bought that same phone, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime from QVC about 10 months ago. Since you're inexperienced w smartphones and Tracfone, I'd say it would be a nice 1st phone.

But it's already an 'old' phone and since you expressed a concern for storage, you might want to consider the Trackfone Galaxy Sky, still available from QVC. The Sky has a newer OS, more RAM, and double the storage.
It looks to be a very good buy for the price.

I don't trade off one of my Trackfones every year for a new model. Just because a 'new' model is released doesn't necessarily mean it's an upgrade from what you're using. But I would consider going from the Grand Prime to the Sky to be a definite upgrade.

QVC & HSN have both carried Trackfones, but never the same ones at the same time. When HSN had the Core Prime, QVC had the bigger, faster, smarter Grand Prime. Now Q is offering the newer, bigger Sky, and the older Grand Prime has bumped over to Evine.

@Kachina624 it's triple minutes, but what I can't find in the description is a statement that one year of airtime is included.
In fact, in the comments, people who bought Evine's bundle say it's 90 days of airtime. If thats true, that would be an important difference.

I'm anything but a phone techie. Both my husband and I have this one from HSN and have been extremely pleased. I was able to use their discount codes so one was a bit over $50 and the other slightly over $70. That's a real deal for a year. We both had tons of minutes to transfer.

Good idea, but I doubt most people are getting a new phone every year. Or maybe they are. I just checked my Verizon Wireless account and my current cell phone was purchased in 2009, lol.

Check with your local Women's shelter. I know most phones will call 911 even if you don't have a plan.

because you have to prepare your phone for recycling.

If you dont prepare your phone you increase the chance your generosity will be repaid with identity theft.

I know there is even a way your phone can be recycled to US troops overseas.

As to donating to a Woman's shelter, I know I'll be slammed for this, but I'd advise against it. I won't go into details but let's just say

A. Their clients DO already qualify for free phones, and

B. Really, unless you are a technician working in this field, it's better if you donate to an agency that employs techs to recycle phones.

Can you give me advice on how to "delete" or "erase" any personal info. I have on my cell phones? I have about four just sitting in a drawer and they are either LG or Samsung for Tracfone? If you can, please give me specific information. Thank you.
