I wouldn't recommend it for all of the reasons already posted. Many new notebook computers can't be opened by the owner. Years ago, there was access to the RAM and hard drive loacted on the bottom of the computer. You only needed a small screw driver and you could increase the memory. Most notebook computers don't have access so it's critical to get the most RAM it will hold or you can afford. A computer with only 4GB will not run well.

Thanks everyone for your help. In the end I decided not to get it. It seems like often when QVC and HSN has something like that (electronic) it isn't the latest and greatest.

This isn't something one (hopefully) purchases often, so I figure "let the buyer beware"

My daughter is in Germany and Switzerland for Christmas so I figure when she gets back she can pick out whatever she wants.

I STILL like my 'old' Samsung, especially considering it keeps on ticking. Recently Bill the cat (who is enormous) sat on the thing and broke the screen then after that he jumped from the back of the couch onto the keys (it was open). It made a noise like crackling and the screen when like in the old days when TV was going off the air (remember those days, and we'd see the flag flying). For you young babes, that was actual event every night and we loved seeing the flag wave....where was I?

Oh! About the computer...thanks it made me feel better about my decision. I also kept thinking....if I'd have bought it for me, Bill could do some major damage on that big screen.

Did I mention (about the screen) my son-in-law bought a new screen and put it on this Samsung and it's better than it has been for a long time...maybe Bill just figured it was time for a new computer screen! Ha!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and just an all around happy day.
