I like Netflix is way better. Not much is available with prime and to get really good movies/shows you still have to pay.

@Lilysmom, I seem to have an opinion on all your posts. lol We have Netflix and Amazon Prime. To use the video portion of AP, you either need a smart TV or a Fire Stick (which is what we have)...unless you're going to watch it on a device and possibly mirror it to a TV. We have both N and AP, because some shows are only available on one or the other. AP will also have newer rental movies that we can rent cheaper than with our DISH or will have the newer movies out first. With AP, you also get free 2-day shipping on most items available on Amazon. That being said, we use both and don't want to be without either.

@Ainhisg @Pook, interesting comments. We are paying an arm and a leg for cable here. Quite a bit more than US I think. There is a big debate going on about new bundles but the cable providers still seem to find a way to keep the cost up. I think they are starting to lose the battle though.

There is also some talk about an Android streamer which I will have to check out further.

I have a smart tv and apple tv so far. I am definitely going to dive into this in 2017. That is my New Year's resolution. Lose the home phone and cut back or lose cable.

For me, Prime is all about the 2 day shipping. I wouldn't ever get it just for streaming. I've had Netflix in the past and I've had an Apple music sub from day one even though I also have Prime.

Been a prime member for several years. I have watched many of the types of movies I enjoy watching. This includes more 4k movies than I can find on our Netflix. All the ones I have watched on prime have been free.

I like Nexflix also for the types movies I like, but free are always better. There are several I have picked out to watch sometime down the road on prime for free.

I have both, and while there seems to be more variety on Netflix, I've see quite a bit on Amazon that I like. Just remember, not everything on Amazon is free with prime.

You can stream Amazon Prime Video on a roku. I've watched a number of movies that way (ones that Netflix doesnt have). I haven't watched any of the original programs, but I have friends who LOVE Mozart in the Jungle (or whatever it's called) and isn't House of Cards AP?

I've had it for years--for the 2 day shipping, which more than pays for it with all I order.

What you need to watch prime or netflix is access to the internet. You do not need a smart tv. You need a broadband internet connection, the faster the download speed, the better the streaming.

You can buy just about any name brand bluray player, and it most likely will have built in wi-fi, along with many smart features, like Utube, you might like to use, and for free.

Many get confused when it comes to TV sets being Dumb/Semi-smart or Smart. As long as you have access to high speed internet, you can use any of the 3, that you can down convert(lower video resolution and audio)types of tv sets, to access all types of streaming content.

You don't even need wi-fi if you hard wire a tv set to your modem/router. High Speed internet and preferably an HDMI input for the best audio and video experience.

There are lots of things to love about Amazon Prime. The free two day shipping is fantastic. You can get an absolutely free book each month using their Kindle First program. This is how Amazon releases books new to their imprints to get early reviews on them before they go on sale for the general public. There's also Amazon Prime Reading which lets you read a wide range of books and major magazines for free. (This is relatively new, but fantastic!) There's also Amazon Prime Music which lets you listen to over 2 million songs for free. The Amzon Prime Video is also neat and includes multiple series that are unique to Amazon including the new series called "The Grand Tour" from the "Top Gear" loonies of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

I love Amazon Prime and can't imagine not having it. For $100 a year, it's an incredible bargain.

Both are excellent. I order from A all the time, and prime allows me to donate to my favorite charity nearly every time I order, so prime is really is a great value for me.

I think prime's website is easier to use than Netflix, more intuitive.

I have Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV and Acorn TV. I stream programs from all 4 and use Netflix and Prime the most. I use Apple TV (older model) to mirror what is on my iPhone or iPad.

I joined Amazon Prime for the free 2 day shipping but have found I am using the video streaming more and more. I'm currently watching "The Good Wife" since I never watched it when originally broadcasted. If I had to select only one, I'd pick Amazon Prime because of the shipping. I do watch Netflix more but, nothing I couldn't do without.

I'd say, just different selections with Netflix and Prime--browse and see which suits you best. Prime is still a good deal for general purchases if you order a lot from Amazon, and here, the video streaming just comes along with it. My favorite streaming service is Acorn--it's what I watch most often--but I get tired of their selections at times and use one of the others. No broadcast TV reception where I live, and cable isn't worth the price for the few times and channels I would use.

I have both Amazon Prime and Netflix. I think both are very well-run companies, probably two of the best in the U.S.

I don't stream but I do receive two movies a month from Netflix and they never fail to send a movie from my list right on time.

I use Prime for the two-day shipping and use it often.

Bottom line, I would not give up either one.

I have Prime and love it. The two-day shipping works out very well for us, especially around the holidays, but also for birthdays and such, too. There are time when I'm Amazon-window-shopping and see a cookbook that I simply must have.

I enjoy Kindle First. I have a Nook, but have the Kindle app....best of both worlds. (I use my iPad for Overdrive for books from the library).

We have the Fire Stick on the bedroom tv and that works out well for us. I watched Outlander last season through Prime instead of regular cable.

Have not tried Prime Music.

Overall we are pleased with Prime and will renew.
