My experience with Amazon, I just thing someone is trying to take them down by writing this. Amazon has always dealt honorably with me within hours and has supported the one or two claims I have made.

I know these are not high priced items but this is what happened on my behalf.

1. Blouse that was pictured is what I ordered. What I got was something totally different. I notified Amazon and within hours the vendor wrote me, and told me the picture was in error and they did not have the one I wanted. They told me to keep the one I got and all funds were refunded.

2. Item supposedly (large package of sliced almonds) was in the package with another two items. Package arrived.... almonds not there. Called Amazon customer service. They send out a new one and not even a second thought or a question... They totally believed me and I felt honored how easy it was to deal with them,

It is my understanding that Amazon would have dumped the dishonest vendors never to be allowed again.

I'm not buying it.

I've bought tons of things from third party sellers on Amazon. You put it in your Amazon cart and pay for it using your Amazon account.

In fact, sellers don't even have your direct contact info, they can only contact you through Amazon. I know this from personal experience.

Now if you're stupid enough to give a seller your private email address during a conversation using the Amazon intermediary one, and you're dumb enough to then send money directly to said person. That's on you.

I try to only buy products that ship from Amazon fulfillment. I ordered a pair of skechers from a third party. They looked like they had been tried on many times and they were loose in the box. No tissue paper, no nothing. I sent them back.

Sometihng was damaged when I got it and amazon contacted the seller then the seller emailed me personally and we are in agrue............,me and the seller...............

This! If you get a bad order Amazon will refund your money.

I have gotten things that were supposed to be one brand and and weren't. I got my money back. The fact that they let multiple sellers under the guise 'buy from other sellers' is the biggest problem. They used to show the best price, which may or may not be the original product. I'm careful about checking that out now, even tho I don't think it's that way anymore.

I still buy more from Amazon than from anywhere, you just have to be cautious. And saying they're doing nothing is not true, they're constantly trying to get rid of scammers.

In my experience, third party sellers are eager to resolve any problems because their success depends on high ratings. One vendor wrote me that anything below 4 stars was not good - in his opinion.

I only order from third party sellers with high ratings which reduces the chance of something going wrong that won't be fixed.

Exactly. They are desperate for your good reviews - to the point where they will badger you with multiple requests to review. I don't want to bother reviewing every single purchase I make, including for toothpaste. But they live in fear that customers complain about them to Amazon.

I only buy Amazon Fulfilled products or from sellers with 95% or above ratings. I have never received an order with things missing, or not what was advertised - but that's also a function of what I do/don't buy.

I trust Amazon 100%. They are very interested in keeping their customers happy. I have always received prompt service. I purchase more from them then any other retailer.

I just spoke to Amazon yesterday about ordering from sellers. They certainly left me with the impression that they would step in and fix any problems on my behalf. I agree with the comment that shopping for items fulfilled by Amazon and with sellers rating @95%+ is the best way to go. I just ordered a cover for my new Macbook and ereader. Two thirds less than at the Apple store. LM

I sell books on Amazon and there is no way that I will contact the customer other than through Amazon's email contact. Sp yes if someone did respond directly to a vendor outside of Amazon that is their responsibilty

That way customer and vendor have a record of all transactions.

Same as John, for me.

My problem orders with Amazon over the 17+ years I've been buying there have been few and far between, including third party purchases, and Amazon takes care of things so fast your head will spin.

Just recently, I had the first problem in I don't know how long. It was NOT a problem caused by Amazon, or anybody associated with Amazon, however.

It seems that my order somehow got lost after USPS had it for a day - or so. After the ETA I contacted Amazon by email to see if they could figure out the problem, beyond what I was able to see from the tracking (that it went somewhere over a week ago and never moved again - somewhere in CA, not far from here).

I figured I'd probably hear back in a day or three, since it's a holiday weekend. But it was probably not more than an hour later that I got a response. New order shipped at zero cost and it should arrive on Monday.

Anyway, that's an example of how Amazon works. I have full confidence in them. Now, that still has me checking feedback on third party sellers. I'm not going to buy from a seller that has less than 96% (or around there - depending on details) positives. I still do my own due diligence. But I know that Amazon is there on the other end, so no worries.

I have shopped with them for a long time. The majority of the problems that I have had, and there have been more than a few, were with outside vendors. Amazon always rectified the situation to my satisfaction, whith an almost immediate refund or email exchanges to the vendor. I wouldn't say that I trust them them 100%,try surfing the web on a Kindle, but they have pretty good custtomer service, great compared to most other shopping sites that I have dealt with. I try and stay away from outside vendors. If I really need the product and Amazon doesn't have it, I will look for direct source or other reasonably trustworthy sources with B&M locations near me.

In my opinion telling someoine to use a gift card would be enough to raise a red flag. You should be able to just go threw amazons shopping card and pay threw the amazon website with any form of payment you choose. If someone asked me to pay them direct over the phone I would say no
