Phone advice Compare Apple I-Phone with android

Our contracts end in February... Sprint. Daughters suggested the Apple was easier than our Android phones. Hubby likes simplicity. I am intuitive and never had an issues with Android. We have the Samsung Note 4.

Is there a learning curve to switch operating systems?

Looking for those of you who can compare both operating systems and or give me advice.

Androids operate with more than one operating systems including whatever my Sprint carrier throws at me.

IMO I think Apple is easier to use I like the whole concept of the phone.

If I were you I would see what others say, do some web research and go to check out the apple phones,

it's really a personal thing at this point,

I never had an Apple product until I got my Ipad. I have now switched EVERY device to Apple. Price is not everything and having common devices just makes life easier.

I now hate my Microsoft desktop and it will be the last to go!

I have been very impressed with iPhone and iPad after using these the last 10 years.

Still have a Windows 7 desktop and I wouldn't trade it. But also I am not sure that we would buy another laptop.

I have had both and prefer Android.

1- I did not like the stock answer "take it to the Apple store" for every problem, issue, or concern. The Apple store is over an hour away.

2- The only phone that I have ever had that 'crashed' and lost everything was the I- phone.

3- I did not like that Apple does not play well with others. It is Apple and only Apple.

4- I found NO difference in ease of use or simplicity. None what-so -ever. I never understand why people say Apple is easier.

Hi @Abrowneyegirl ... sorry the iPhone did not work out for you. I, on the other hand, much prefer Apple products. I purchased my first iPhone back in 2008. I have rarely had any issues that I wasn't able to correct myself or with a phone call to Apple. The only time I had to go to the Apple store for a problem was when they had to replace my phone. I had to go to turn over the old phone and pick up the new one.

I agree with you. I do not see any difference. I have a Note 5 from last year. I will probably buy a larger Android phone next year.

In my case love my android... love the open source, love the options and love the operating systems since there are more than one.

I just wanted to help him but cannot see having a different phone for him and me. I will go nuts when something does not work.

Why get an iPhone if he only uses it for phone calls? There are simple phones for far less money that will meet his needs.

Apple's iOS is more consistent, which makes it easier to learn and use. It offers less customization capability, but that's another reason it's so consistent and easy.

Android OS offers much more customization, but that also means that phones with the same OS don't look the same and that slows the learning curve.

Android phones also have more security risks than Apple phones because they have a more open app store process. Apple regulates their apps, which disallows some cool things, but also provides more standardization and safety.

Consider any data you have on your phone, from data in apps to music files, and what a change will mean for those things. If you have apps that store data in one iOS, like an app I use for budgeting and expenses, changing phones and operating systems could mean losing all the data and incompatibility issues. If your phone holds music in any proprietary file format, you might have to reformat it to get it on the new phone.

My daughter got an Andoid phone after using my old iphone. She said I wouldn't like the android LOL. She's still adapting to it. She basically only got it because it was cheaper. She knows that next year when I upgrade to iphone 8 I'll give her my 6+.

I understand 100%. It is so much easier to have the same or similiar phones. It makes chargers and accessory sharing so much easier too. One type of car charger, ear buds, etc.

I am at the point in my life when I am trying to simplify!

I finally trained mine to use google to help troubleshoot his issues with Windows, because I got tired of him relying on me to fix it. Especially since I haven't used Windows in years. He does have an iphone though and I don't mind helping him with it when he can't remember how to do something.

I think it is all about keeping my life simple. DH & I both have android tablets that we use daily and understand well, it was a natural transition for us to get android smartphones. I suppose if you have an I pad already then it would be simpler to get an i phone too.

personally, for us - for our needs - it is all about the money. I will never pay what they are asking for Apple products.

I think there's a learning curve any time you make a drastic change. I have an IPhone and hubby has an Android. Neither one of us can run the others.
