I just noticed what looks like an arrow head pointing to the right by my battery symbol.

Does anyone know what this is---and should it be on?

It means location services in being used. Basically an app is currently using your GPS.

It's location tracking. Some apps that require your location use it (ie: weather apps) You can turn it off in "Settings" "Privacy" "Location"..turn the switch to "off"
