I Got A Stupid Alexa!

Just about everything I ask this THING she says, "I'm sorry, I don't know the answer". Good grief!

I just said, "Alexa! When do the Redskins play their first game?" She says, "I'm sorry....I don't know the answer".

I say, "Alexa! Are you stupid". She says, "I'm still learning".

I bought one for my daughter....her's is smart. It does everything! Leave it to me to get the dumb one!

I've had my Alexa for quite some time now and don't consider her stupid at all. However, she doesn't know the answer about the Redskins game either. But she sure has the answer to plenty of other questions!

I'm sure they are all the same. You probably need to do the voice training exercises so she can understand you better.

Also, it depends on how you ask the question. If she doesn't understand, try asking in a different way.

My Alexa is smarter than me! LOL

@Annabellethecat66 If you say Washington Redskins she answers. I just tried it. Like I said, sometimes you need to ask in a different way or be more specific.

I do not understand why anyone would pay so much for this Alexa? Can't you just google the question for free? I am sure this product just gets the answers off of Google. It is like the new pet rock. Making the inventor lots of money for a stupid product.

@Annabellethecat66, I feel your pain! There are a lot of times I ask Alexa things, she doesn't know the answer. Sometimes I ask Siri questions, she also doesn't always know. I think you have to speak clearly and simply for Alexa to get it.

Alexa is continually evolving. She does way more than just answer questions.

I love Alexa. I use her all the time. I constantly use her for an alarm, a kitchen timer, to get the weather, to play the news, play a song, add to my grocery list, etc.

She is very functional! I have one at work to constantly remind me to do things. Sure, I "could" set an alarm, but it is much easier to say "alexa, set and alarm for 2PM" and she does it. I would hate to go without her.

@mima If it gives you pleasure that is all that matters really. I think it really is just a new toy.

It can be interesting. Although I often ask my IPHONE the same questions and get better answers. My daughter uses it for a lot of things. It's just a gimick to me. She actually uses her's.

It will play any song I ask it to (I like that), there are things I like about it, but it does frustrate me. It's the same thing with my car.....I'm beginning to think it's me..my voice?

With my car I'll say, "Call so and so". The car says "Calling (someone I really don't want to talk to)".

It must be in the way you phrase the question or words. Although I don't think you can get more specific than to say "Call so and so". Ha!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else got a stupid one?

I don't have an Alexa so can't comment on that part, but I can tell you the Redskins are playing tomorrow night at 7 on Channel 7 for those of us in the DC area.

Did you go through the voice training for Alexa? If not you should. If you did it wouldn't hurt to repeat the training. The more familiar Alexa becomes with your voice the more accurate the responses.
