I would be concerned about kids going on Facebook if the security is that bad with these low budget low end products.

They are currently showing an 8" Gigset quadcore tablet with 8 Gig memory for $55, but the Android operating system is Jelly Bean(4.2) that was released in 2013 and replaced by numerous versions since; Android is now up to Marshmellow (6).

I don't care about emojis or such things but sercurity and functional bug corrections are important. How safe and functional are such tablets?

It's definitely something for an adult to be totally aware of regarding the security lacking in an older Android, however when I watched the presentation David and the rep kept talking about it being perfect for kids and young teens (12 - 13) and I think it's perfect for them at a very reasonable price..... far better than handing over your Apple tablet to the 8 year old....

I would not buy this tablet for an adult. Security is just one of the problems. This device does not have enough storage, or RAM (memory), display, wireless card.

A young child would be happy with an Amazon product. I brought a Samsung Galaxy S2 8" tablet from Amazon running Android 6.01. The display is sharp and bright easy to read, and the dual band wireless card connects well to my router. It is a nice product for $349, but sometimes Amazon reduces the price to $299. I found it on sale.

They said this morning you can expand the memory- I think it's a perfect tablet for kids. Like a poster said, I wouldn't want to hand something over to a kid that cost hundreds of dollars!

I have the same operating system in a LePan tablet I bought a year ago from Q for around $70.. I am on it right now.

It works fine for my needs but I don't store photos or play games. I have had a few minor issues but it still works well. I surf the web and check my email primarily. Google any problem and you can find a fix.

I didn't know anything about Android but I learned it as I went along. the device has limitations but does a lot. It would be great for a kid or teen but I am 62.

I'm a believer generally in "you get what you pay for", as well as name brands in electronics.

If you want a dependable tablet for children, you can buy a 16GB Fire for $50 and 32GB for $70. It doesn't get cheaper than that for quality backed up by great customer service. If I was in the market for something like that, I would automatically buy an Amazon product over am weakly powered, old-OS no-name.

I think it depends on what you want to use it for. Different people have different needs for their tablet. I don't do my banking or anything else sensitive on a tablet because of security reasons. However, just to come to this site or FB & check e mails it's fine. If someone wants to hack into my e mails and see who's grandson is getting potty trained or where someone got really good tomatoes - this is all that is on my e mails.
