Thanks. I didn't know about this. But I have learned over the years to never update something from a pop up. I open the program itself, go into the 'settings' area where it has a 'check for updates' and do it from there.

I guess they never tire of coming up with new ways to skrew people over, eh?

I routinely check Chrome for updates by clicking on those three lines (upper right corner), click on that. Go down to 'Help' and click on 'About Google Chrome'. This will open up a window that checks for updates and you just follow through. It usually just takes seconds.

There has also been this type of scam for Adobe. If I see anything that says Adobe needs updating, except on my Secunia PSI or Windows Updates, I close it and go right to the adobe site and install current version from there.

'Come to think about it', I've been getting a square pop-up from my Internet security provider. It's been saying that there is an Error Detected, but never seems to 'Fix' itself after having it updating all day long. Well, yesterday, it finally 'finished' (was supposedly 'fixed'), but then again today, it says Error Detected all over again. Something is 'fishy', IMO. I don't know why they just don't 'fix' their own 'errors'. After all, if it's their Errors, why not just 'fix' them themselves, right? Why bother me with all of THEIR problems. Maybe they just want me to call them and then try to talk me into a more expensive internet security........

Unlike Microsoft Google Chrome does not send pop-ups- if you have chrome downloaded on your device it will automatically download updates- but you can always check to see if you need any recent downloads by going to the tool menu on your device connected to Chrome
