You need to have the printer find your wireless network and enter the security code to connect. My Canon did that through the menu on the printer itself. Flip up the screen, presse menu and follow the prompts.

We just got an all in one PC and I've been tryng to connect it wirelessly to my Canon Pixma printer. We have an older PC connected to it with a connection. I was never able to get the laptop connected wireless either. I tried with the CD and also with a download from Canon's site but it always ends up giving a workaround by connecting with wire but there can only be one wired connection. Canon CS says I should be able to do it but they just say keep trying. If anyone has any suggestions I sure would appreciate it.

Do you have a wireless router setup? If so, have you gone into the printer settings and told it what wireless network to connect to?

Also, if you don't have a wireless router, you won't be able to connect wirelessy. The wireless router essentially "transmits" your home internet connection through the "airwaves" so your other devices can connect.

You may be able to find help on YouTube. This is a general video of printer install videos. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+install+a+canon+printer

Please find the install instructions about your printer by includings its model # and name in the search.

You should disconnect everything and start the install again.

I would use the driver software etc from the Canon site.

You need the SSID name of your wireless router and its password to connect to your network.

I can't tell how far you've gotten. Here are the steps you need to do.

- connect the PC to wireless network

- connect the printer to your wireless network. As another poster said, this is done by using the setup menu on the printer. One of the setup option will be for "network" - your verbiage may vary

- install the printer driver on the PC. The driver is probably on a disk that came with the printer.

- Lastly, on the PC go into the Printer settings and add the printer as a new device.

HTH.

Oh boy. The WPS button WILL blink after you are holding it down for a couple of seconds but you also need to hold it down in a way that you can see it blink. Normally, it isn't lit up at all, at least on the last few routers I have had. It will blink after you've held it down for a couple of seconds.

If the printer is capable of doing it this way, it is the easiest, as it takes seconds and you have to do practically nothing. Might have to restart the computer. Sometimes I do. Then I see it installed and am able to print a test page.

Otherwise, as is the case with my other Canon (an older one), I just have to re-install it each time I change my network. There are instructions on the Canon website and they are super easy to follow. These links have been provided. I usually just Google the brand and model # of my printer and 'installation' or something like that and it comes right up.

Takes like two minutes total to do the install. I keep a cable in the drawer under that printer because one of the instructions is to plug it in. That doesn't mean you always have to plug it in. That is for the sole purpose of getting it installed.

During the installation it will ask you if you are doing the installation for the purpose of making it wireless and you choose that.

Follow the directions through. It is very easy and not at all confusing. Then you unplug the printer from the computer, when it tells you to, and you should be good. You may have to restart your computer, but it's never any more involved than that.

Hey Pook! I hope you got this thing going. I didn't want to sound intolerant the other day. I just felt frustrated. I wish I could have just gone there and helped you get it done and you could learn how. Trust me, I remember when I had the same exact type of frustrations.

I have two Canon printers. One of them has the screen (it's a print/copy/scan/fax machine) and I can just pair it up to the router as described here.

My other, slightly older Canon is just a print/copy/scan machine and doesn't have the ability to do that. So I have to just re-install it each time as I described above with plugging it into the computer and going through the instructions, then unplug it and it's wirelessly 'connected'.

Every time I change my network I've had to go through this with that printer and it is a bit of a pain, especially since it takes like 5 seconds to do the other one through WPS. But I finally wrote it all down so because i would forget each time what I did last time.
