topic Barcode scanner apps? in Electronics

Is there a barcode scanner app for Android that will give you the date a product was manufactured? I have some insect repellent that doesn't have an expiration date or manufacture date on the can. It's full and I hate to throw it out, but I can't remember when I bought it. I know someone will say to test it out, but I would rather not get bitten by flies and mosquitoes! Thanks!
