@Nuttmeg, thank you for the info. I am using a laptop and running a Windows 7.

I looked at the sites you highlighted, but the truth is I don't know how to update my Adobe Flash, even after reading the information.

I am wondering if anyone here can walk me through it?

Chrome Browser: Adobe Flash Player installed with Google Chrome will be automatically updated to the latest Google Chrome version, which will include Adobe Flash Player 21.0.0.213 for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Chrome OS.

I had a e-mail this morning from Adobe but wasn't sure if it was ligit or not..now i know that it was.

I updated manual on google chrome after reading the link you posted

and it also updated IE 11 on Windows 7

I checked Chrome and there was, indeed, an update.

The weird thing was that I even re-checked Windows Updates (I'm on an 8.1 OS computer right now) to get the update (because you cannot separately update Adobe Flash Player since Win8 anymore) and it isn't showing any updates.

YET, my Secunia IS telling me that Adobe Flash Player needs to be updated. It's kind of frustrating because, until Windows recognizes that, I cannot update it.

The only solution, AFAIK, is to just not use IE until the update hits Win Updates. Chrome is a separate entity that includes the necessary updating so as long as you have that up to date I believe one is ok.

I liked it better when ALL Adobe products could be manually updated. You can't even go directly to Adobe and install the current version anymore. What a PITA!

CB, I am running Win 8.1. I checked for updates using CCleaner, and Belarc Advisor. AFP was installed.

JMHO, AFP is a messy program. A big headache.

same here..when i tried downloading on Windows 7 it would download to 52% and thats it..!!

I couldn't get it to finish it as i kept getting message IE needed to be closed to finish and it was closed!

So i went to google.

Google and i clicked to download updates after it downloaded AFP it told me it was downloaded.

Secunia also said it needed updated.??

BUT i doubled checked on the link that nutmeg posted to check what version was downloaded on Windows7..it showed ti" had been downloaded "also on windows.

Thanks for the info! Windows Updates continues to not offer this update. I have to find out how to look for updates using CCleaner. I only have the free version so maybe that's why I cannot find it.

I don't believe I have Belarc on this computer. I should install it. I like it.

It's such a PITA that you can't just update, or install the current version of AFP separately anymore. Seems kind of idiotic but I guess it's good for people who don't keep up on having all their programs up to date. It shows, on Secunia, what the current version (for IE) is and what I have. But Windows just won't allow the update unless it comes through as a WinUpdate. I'm just not using IE for now, until they get their act together and offer it, I guess.

CCleaner, You can look under the tools, and there is a list of all programs installed on your computer. You can check the version number, and date.

Hi Nutmeg! I also saw what version I had, and what the new version was, on Secunia PSI.

I tried to find a way to update it myself and never got there. But the good news is that the Adobe update FINALLY showed up in Windows Updates yesterday.

I know it's kind of lame, but stuff like that makes me a little crazy. I just like to have things clean and right. I was so glad to get that updated and get my Secunia PSI back to 100%

(it's the little things. heh)

Yeah, total pain! From Windows8 on, the Adobe Flash Player is imbedded in Internet Explorer and the ONLY way to update it is to wait for the applicable Windows Update to come to your computer. Lame!

Chrome has its own, so it's caught in periodic Chrome updates.

The other Adobe products, however, can be manually updated.

I never never knew that Chrome had separate updates. How do you check for them? I know that if you inadvertently picked up the Silverlight Program; MS's version of Adobe Flash, there's a critical update for it from MS right now. I have no idea how this Silverlight crept into my computer. THESE TYPE OF PROGRAMS ARE SUBJECT TO RANSOMWARE.

Thank you you so much. I had no idea that Chrome had separate updates until I saw this post. I'll have to catch up. You know, I spend half my time updating these days. There are HP updates, MS updates, MCCaffe updates and now Chrome! This is why I'm on my iPad more and more. It's becoming a nuisance.
