I have been doing both my business and personal taxes for years. I use H&R Block for business and personal. Easy to download and navigate. I also do my son's and daughter's taxes with it. You get 5 free federal e-file and state is free, but you have to either paper file or pay $19.95 to e-file state. I always e-file. I used a CPA for years before doing it myself, and found the CPA made many mistakes on my business tax forms, costing me a lot of money. I am sure there are many excellent CPA's, I just happened to have a very friendly, but uninformed CPA dealing with my S-Corp taxes.

I use Turbo Tax Deluxe, Go online and look for reviews.

H&R block. Very easy to use and I have seen sales on retail me not. Good luck on doing your taxes. I think it will be easier than what you might expect.

We use TaxAct, and have been using them for a long time.

They are easy to use, and their help explanations are good, if you need to use them to have something explained.

Their prices seem reasonable, too.

I have used Turbo Tax & Tax Act. I find we don't really need Turbo Tax because we file short form. If you have a lot of deductions plus I would go with Turbo Tax.

I read the article someone posted comparing the different tax software and the H+R Block comparison has one "con" ..

"The cost of filing state returns."

What does that mean?

I use Turbo Tax. Most tax software or sites charge money to send your return(s) to the IRS and your state. Different versions of the programs charge a different amount for this service. When you buy a program some of the filing fee(s) maybe included with price. To get a true picture compare basic with basic or deluxe with deluxe.

For the first time in 15 years, I did my taxes myself with Turbotax Deluxe this year. I had used an accountant for years. I found it so much more affordable, my refund amount was nearly the same as if I used the accountant and my refund was filed and processed and the federal money was in the bank within a week.
