Question concerning Thursday's TSV...the LePan 8" tablet. I've never owned a tablet before as I either use my laptop or away from home...my smartphone. But the reviews on Amazon are pretty good for this, and I wondered if anyone here has experience with this brand. I thought I might use it in the kitchen for recipes vs. dragging my laptop in there and don't want to commit several hundred dollars for a tablet to find out if I will really use it or not. TIA!

Both my sister and me bought a 7" LePan a while back from here. Then they came out with an Acer 7". We both had the LePan for about 2 weeks and sent it back. Didn't really like it, she was more familiar with tablets than I was. It was my first. She was diappointed with many features and some features she wanted weren't there.

She bought something else and I went to amazon.com and bought a great 7" Acer. Love it, great customer service at Acer. I already had an Acer laptop (actually so did my sis). I now have a brand new Acer Aspire laptop which I absolutely love, does SO MUCH!!! And again, Acer CS is great! If I were you, I'd check out Acers on amazon, just saying.

My sil bought five Lepan tablets for her grands...she got them last year for Christmas...everyone loves them...she was sorry she didn't buy one for herself...but they were a TSV and sold out....

All of her sons and dil's are very computer/tablet savvy....and they said the LePans were great...they set them up as soon as the kids opened their present....

So she bought herself an Acer tablet and she likes that, too...

May I asked how much this tablet will be...I might buy myself one..

I've had one for over 1 8months with no problems. For web browsing and recipes, it would be fine. But it's not good for reading books becuase the resolution is low. Books can be read, but it's not nearly as nice as reading on a tablet with higher res. For a starter tablet that's inexpensive, it's fine. But if you think you'll do a lot of book reading, I would suggest you pass on this in favor of one with better resolution.

I have one from last year. For me personally, it does what I need it to do. I do my real work on my laptop. I did put an SD card in for more memory which is a good feature to have. Also, mine didn't come with a cover. Depending on budget and what you want it for, it's an OK tablet. It's great for just sitting on the couch surfing or playing a game. I like to find restaurants, look at menus, check out the shopping channels, etc. Would be good for recipes b/c you can just ask "Google" - that feature works extremely well. Very accurate on voice commands. I know the other channel has a tablet on sale also - I believe it is a Samsung - to me personally, that might be a better deal and comes with more. I would definitely comparison shop.

If you type LePan in the space just above your post titled, "Search Forums and Blogs," you should come up with all the previous posts about this tablet. I have the original one offered during the Christmas in July (2014) promo and the only reason I got it was because I had until January 31, 2015 to try it out. Mine is still going strong. Great that it comes with a cover now. I purchased my cover from ebay as soon as I placed my order for the tablet.

I'm not a big gamer but do play an occasional game here and there. I do more reading via Amazon Kindle app and search the web - it's fast. Voice command is superb and like that I could add the micro SD card for more storage which is where I placed all my mp3 music stash. There is also a website around with very helpful people who really know their LePans (I'll try to insert a link, but if that doesn't work, copy and paste this in your browser http://lepanforum.com/index.php?action=forum).

For this price point of $69.96 w/$5 ship and the 30 day trial, I say give it a shot - only you know what works for you.

I bought the last LePan TSV for my husband so when we travel he can watch movies and he loves it! So do I , it's vey light weight has great processing power works great on the airplane and generally really easy to use. I really didn't want to take a laptop when we travel and this fits the bill perfectly. I've had very little tech questions (ours came with lifetime tech support) but to tell you the truth Google tech support was more help.

I just looked upthe invoice we bought ours in January 21015. Great product, no problems so far. Oh yes, I almost forgot my husband liked it so much he also uses it for most of his work realted issues.

The LePan tablet I bought last year was a piece of junk I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I found the operating system more difficult than other Android devices. Andoid allows for a memory card, but you cannot put Apps on the memory card, only documents, pictures, music, or video files. I did not know that before I bought it and I bought it primarily for games and note taking in conferences. It worked for the notes, but I quickly found I was out of space when I started loading games and other Apps on.

The display was not HD and it wasn't very clear, which is another bummer for games.

After I had it for about a month, it stopped charging or took 3 days to charge. I tried multiple different power cords, so it wasn't the cord, it was the tablet. Because it wouldn't charge even with a cable plugged in, I couldn't use it even when it was plugged in.

I would recommend avoiding this at all costs and finding another affordable tablet.

With electronics, you get what you pay for. You don't need to go out and buy an expensive iPad, but you should definitely consider that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You won't get a good tablet for $70. Last year this was a TSV TWICE for $99 and I should have known better.

It can be difficult to get a quality tablet for $70. I suggest you look at a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8" http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-8-4-Inch-Tablet-Titanium/dp/B00KHA2DQM?

You may want to consider the Kindle Fire 7" HDX tablet. You would be happy with the quality of these products.

I really appreciate everyone's responses, advice, and opinions. Thank you! I don't know how much I would use a tablet, which is why I am considering going cheaper this first round. I use my laptop for everything but thought a cheapie tablet might be something I would use to pull up recipes or just go to Facebook at the end of the day rather than use my laptop...thought I would use it for things that don't require typing. I have the Nook that's just for reading but find I like reading a "real" book better, and I don't get magazines or play games. I would use it basically to surf. Hmmm...going to have to think about this... Thanks, again. I did call CS, and they said it was not going to have a holiday return time frame...just 30 days.

I decided to order it since the price was really reasonable...

Will be a learning tool for my husband who does not know how to use a pc..

Even for myself who just uses a desk top .

We are both seniors my husband is 80 i am 77.

Did read some mixed reviews and a bit aprehensive about it now..

However since it is on easy pay and have 30 days to return..

Am willing to chance it.

With all the technology out there it is really very over whelming for me.

Do hope i am making a good decision about getting it?

Would love to hear from anyone that has it or any opinions about it?

I purchased 7 of these in 9/14. I am highly satisfied with this devise. I am a Sunday School director and sr adult ss teacher. I use evernote app to make notes and biblical notations and my lessons plans. I also use it to read. This is a wonderful buy. And you should take advantage of this tsv while you can. I gave each of my grandkids (4 boys and 1 girl ages 4 to 7) they love it. I have a dell inspiron 17R that is linked to my tablet. It is easy to type appointments on the tablet (most drs have wifi in there offices.

, and it automatically shows up on your computer. I am using it to write this post.

Important to know? How long does the charge work? Some just mentioned the charge does not last very long.

What about using? Meaning do i need to connect to a wireless port?

The only one i have is a Verizon router which does have a wireless port.

Problem is i have a desk top PC and would be very annoying to keep replugging in to recharge the unit.

My husband as i mentioned in another post. Does not know how to use a computer.

He loves to play games that he watches on Direct TV game show channels... Wondering if you can get these with the LePan?

I am not Pc savvy and hope this device will be a good learning tool?

Would really love to hear opinions and advice on this?

Please do not buy anthing extra. Here is the item # E227799 for this device. You can find a setup video, and a quick start guide, and a manual. The setup video should help.

You may want to save a copy on your computer of the PDF for later.

Recieved mine yesterday... Was trying to get it started... My first experience with a tablet...

Have a desk top wired pc with a Verizon router.... I called Verizon today to ask if the wireless conection would work...

She told me that there was a sticker under the router that gave the key/pass phrase for WIFI connection for it..

My problem is i cannot find the list of WIFI to find out if the key pass phase is listed....

I did charge up the tablet last night and said it was 100% connected...

I did disconnect to call Verizon and after call saw the charge diminished.

Was on the phone only for 5 to 10 min...

Seems the charge does not last long at all.

My reason for getting wireless was to be able to use in any area of my home.

So now i am wondering if it was a good purchase or not?

Planning to call Le Pan tomorrow to find out how to check if my Wireless will work on the Le Pann...

Am really frustrated at this point...
