We purchased Norton 360 and until lately, have been very pleased with all of the additional features.

About three months ago, the message started popping up that there was a problem. Everything is protected, but Norton is showing with a big red "X" because we need to purchase more back-up storage! Phooey -- I have already backed up everything on my laptop to disk.

So, which program is at war with which program? I am now also getting the message that Windows Defender needs to scan because it detects no anti-virus protection on this computer.

Should I disable the Windows Defender program? I don't remember installing Windows defender. I think this happened in a Windows update in November and since that time, many of the typical "pathways" for seeing files have been obscured.

What do the gurus recommend?

I recommend, for anyone considering Norton by Symantec, to get the Internet Security program and not the Norton 360 -- its a waste of money. The InternetSecurity has always worked for us in the past.
