Moving Contacts from One Tracfone to Another Tracfone?

I finally activated my Tracfone that was a TSV 1-1/2 months ago. I had the Ultimate 2 but upgraded to the recent Ultimate 2. I know this has been asked before, but anyway to move your contacts from the old phone to the new one? Set up was a breeze. It's never been so easy. I was activated within 45 minutes.

I had mine on my tablet because I had bluetoothed them over from my old phone so I just bluetoothed them from the tablet to the new phone.

I don't have mine on a tablet. Is there anyway to Bluetooth them from one phone to another? And when you say Bluetooth, what does that mean? Dumb here. 😫

There is probably a way but I never figured it out so just re-entered my contacts manually. I get a new phone every year for the minutes put usually just toss it into a drawer and keep using the old phone due to the contacts problem. I actually use the new phone about every 3rd year.

On the phone is a setting called Bluetooth. It allows devices to talk to each other and share stuff. When I got my first tabletvit had an app that allowed me to text from the tablet via Bluetooth so I moved my contacts from my phone over so I could use them to text. If you look under settings on your phone you will see the blue tooth - turn it on and play with it. You simply turn on Bluetooth on any other device and go thru the steps so they start to recognize each other and then you can move stuff like info or pictures from one to the other.I move pictures from my phone to my computer all the time, so I can print them.

I can give you a general idea....

While in Contacts, if you touch the menu key there will be an import/export option. Then you select export and will be able to mark the contacts to export to a file. Then connect both phones via BT and transfer the file to the new phone. Then open Contacts, and get to that same option but now import the contacts.

If all you can manage is exporting to the file you can then use the data cord to put the file on your PC and then move it to the new phone.

I found detailed info online way back when I did it the first time and encourage you to see what you can find. There's probably a youtube video, probably made by a 12 yo It's somewhat generic for Android phones so you don't need info specific to the phones you have. I know the first time I went through it was daunting but it really is the quickest way to do it unless you have very few contacts.

It says saving to VCard, I name it, but I don't know where to find the file to export. Last night the phones weren't even "seeing" each other. At least today they are "seeing" each other. Very frustrated.

Himi - trying following the instructions in the link below. It more or less spells it out. Make sure first that you have Bluetooth turned on in both devices and that they are in proximity to each other. (I just put mine both on my desk side by side, when I transferred mine.)

If this doesn't work, google "Transferring contacts via Bluetooth Android" and you will get a lot of tutorials popping up. Choose the one that's easiest for you to follow.

Himilover I had the same problem and Stargazer77 helped me. I'm not tech savvy at all but she walked me through it. It was the thread Paging Jordan pickeslaurue and Bob are you here. I will try to bump it up.

Jordan, it keeps telling me that it cannot pair with the device. I have Bluetooth turned on in both phones. Very frustrating. It's also right next to my iPad. Maybe I should turn that off, Bluetooth on my iPad.

Himi - it's not enough just to have Bluetooth turned on. You have to set it to "Make Phone Visible". (In other words, so other Bluetooth devices can find it.)

From your home screen, tap the menu button on the bottom right of your phone (the three bars), to bring up menu. Tap on "System Settings".

Under that, tap on "Bluetooth" (and I don't mean turn it to on; just tap to bring up the next screen).

You should see your phone (whatever ID you gave it) at the top with a box to check to the right. If you check that box, it will make your phone "visible" to other devices. It should also show you a list of any Bluetooth devices your phone is already paired with. (You only ever have to pair the device once, unless for some reason you delete it.)

You need to make both phones "visible" to get them to "find" each other and do the transfer.

I hope I'm not making this sound too complicated and, if you've already got your phones set to "visible", I'm not sure what else could be causing the problem.

Venezia, I'm pretty sure I did that. It still wouldn't pair. Now are you saying I have to do this with both phones? Or just the new phone. My old phone doesn't come up with the check box to pair. But my new one does.

Both phones. When you're trying to communicate between Bluetooth devices (phones, tablets, whatever), they both have to be set to "visible". Otherwise, one device won't be able to "see" the other. Does that make sense?

Do you mean you can't find the option on your old phone to make it visible?

Whenever I want to transfer things - for instance, transferring photos to my laptop - I set both devices to "visible". Once I'm done with the transfer, I put them back to "not visible", just for security's sake.

Maybe I've got it all wrong, but that's what's always worked for me.
