I have Norton Antivirus on my computer and a few weeks ago it installed the newest version 2015. Today it was automatically renewed. The computer will be 3 years old this Fall. I am using Windows 7 with IE 11.

Today I noticed in the Norton Icon an i in it. I opened Norton and it said that I needed to fix my computer using their Disk Optimization. I noticed that there are a lot fo new things on the latest version that I know nothing about. I googled Norton Disk Optimization and from I can understand which isn't much that it is a disk defragmenter. I thought that the latest IE or Windows 7 already does that. I use to have to click on Tools and defrag manually but it is no longer available and I thought that I read that it automatically does it.

My question is should I click on the fix it button in Norton and do it or should I go into settings and possibly shut it off> I am not good with this stuff and rarely understand any technical terms. Could someone please help me with this. Thank you.

I second nutmeg3's message. I love Norton and got that message just the other day and ran the defrag. Didn't take much time at all. I too have Windows 7 but couldn't tell you what version of IE I have as I use Chrome and Firefox.

Norton is a great product and will only improve your computer.

Hi Nutmeg and mtc.........I contacted Norton yesterday and was told that Norton works with Windows and to click on the fix it button as you both said to do. It took about 2 minutes and told me that it did not need to be done.

Thank you both for your help and from now on I will do as Norton asks.

I upgraded to" Norton security suite" for my laptop and it works well. Just let it work as the other member said. I get this free with my subscription with comcast.
