Hi. I just read 2 very interesting articles that were linked on the Amazon discussion board and while my head may be spinning from overload, I think it’s really good stuff.

www.amazon.com/forum/kindle/ref=cm_cd_pg_pg184?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdPage=184&cdSort=oldest&cdThread=Tx20BQ8KTGP9S3Z

Articles:

www.marketwatch.com/story/amazon-introduces-the-alexa-skills-kita-free-sdk-for-developers-2015-06-25

www.theverge.com/2015/6/25/8845103/amazon-echo-alexa-voice-control-third-party-hardware

I'm waiting on this one for now. Most of what the Echo does I already do with Siri. All my music is in iTunes, so this wouldn't play most of my music and would have to rely on streaming only. As of now, the limited uses don't justify the cost for me. Opening the platform up to developers will make a big difference.

Right before the iPad was released, my dad knew I had an iPhone and asked me what I thought of the iPad. I told him that as of release day, I didn't have a need for it and wouldn't be interested but that I suspected that in two years, I'd consider a tablet a necessary item. The tablet is just a delivery device and the apps and people pushing the boundaries with the apps are what make the tablets powerful. If they do that for the Echo, I may come to see it as a valuable tool that everyone will want. As of today, it's an unnecessary extra I don't need.
