Does anyone here know how to delete/cancel an FB account when the username and password is not known? My beloved sister died three and one-half years ago and yet people are still posting on her (2) FB accounts. It stabs me in the heart every time I see it.

did she have children or a poa? they should be responsible for doing it. i have seen people leave up deceased persons' facebook accounts so that people can leave remembrances there.

i you dont think it has been left active on purpose then here is the link to request that they close the account or memorialize it. you will need to upload a death certificate, a birth certificate, or other "proof of authority", and they may require some other verifications.

https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/228813257197480

I found this...don't know if it works because I didn't try it but give it a shot and see if it helps.

Immediate family members can choose to have the account removed or memorialized. You can find out how to use both options here: https://www.facebook.com/help/150486848354038

It states death certificate, birth certificate or "proof of authority" (like Power of Atty). It's not to prove the person is deceased, it's to demonstrate that your relationship to the deceased is what you claim it is and that you have the "right" to have the account closed.
