Thinking about ordering the TS on HSN (3/13). My old printer died recently ... I need a new one... quick (tax season approaches).

Your thoughts and comments on this, please. Thanks!

Edit: Is there a different, smaller one you would recommend ... I'd love to hear about it.

I will stick with Canon and I also will never buy a printer that doesn't have individual ink tanks. Nothing aganst HP, but I will stick with Canon that has the highest rate of dpi of all the printers on the market for home use. I also think that you can find a Canon with comfortable features for the same amount of money, just maybe not with the software that most purchasers probably won't use anyway.

I ordered it. I have an HP Officejet 6600 and like it very much.

However, I can't get the ink deal with that one, so I'm getting the TS. It's $99.95, free shipping and to get new cartridges for the 6600 is more than that! The TS also prints duplex.

Printers are getting to be like my tracfone - it's cheaper to replace and get the great minute deals.

We all have our own criteria for what's most important to us in a printer.

I agree with Seehorse. The ink cartridges for my HP printer is almost the exact cost of a new printer, so I have been going that route for the last few years. I have at least 3 printers in the basement that are gone simply because they ran out of ink!! Sad but true.

Thanks for the replies, John, Seehorse, and SuzieQ. My husband has a Canon i900D, but the cost of ink is outrageous. I just want a simple printer for documents like tax forms and such. My old printer was just fine for these type of tasks ... cartridges for it was also getting too high.

I think I'll just try the HP ...

SoX, I have used generic in my Canon printers and I have never had an issue with any of them. the last tanks I bought was for my 5 ink tank printer and I got 10 ink tanks for $34. now I've had my printer for going on three years and I just put the last of those ink tanks in to the printer so for 3 years I paid $69 for the printer, which came with 5 full Canon tanks, & I spent 34 dollars for the other 10 ink tanks.I see that total coming to $103 for using that printer for almost 3 years and I still have lots of ink left in those five ink tanks. So if I divide that by 3 that comes out to about $33 a year or somewhere in that neighborhood. I know some people don't want to use generic tanks, but I've never had a problem and if I did? From what I save on that type of ink I could buy two or three printers. So I don't concern myself with whether the ink will void the warranty or not. I see printers like I do Tracfones, which are pretty much throw away electronic devices.
