Reused UPS Tracking numbers

I ordered a portable charger for my son on HSN and it showed delivered 11-6-14? I just ordered it on 2-21-15. I emailed them and this was their reply:

It appears that this tracking number has been recycled from an aged package with UPS. Since the numbers are randomly generated, this can happen on rare occasion. We shipped the package on 2/23/15, but it shows a delivery on 11/6/2014 for example. As the new package travels and is updated, it will overwrite the original, no now out of date information.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of this? My son lives in Dallas and we are in NY so I hope he gets it. If not HSN will have to resend a new one. All the years I have used UPS I have never seen such messed up tracking.

Thanks. It was strange to see that. My son's vehicle was broken into and they stole the portable charger I just sent him a few months ago among his work items. Someone smashed the window out while he was in a restaurant. After a long day at work it is not what you want to see.

I had copied and pasted what I had received on the UPS tracking email and it caused everything I wrote to show that way. I noticed that also. Maybe when we want another font we could type on our computer and copy and paste in our replies? I know when I reply when using my iPad it is always really tiny.

Ah, thank you. That's happened to me too, then I waste time trying to get it back to normal.

You will get your package. I have had situations where "non US sellers" use the same tracking number and the packages NEVER ARRIVE. And of course I am told they did.

As for the font, I know it was copy and paste but wouldn't it be nice if the Q gave us some opportunity for variety. I don't see the spell checker anymore. Am I looking in the wrong place.

Update on the package with reused tracking number- The package stated it was delivered yesterday and my son called and said he did not receive it. He went to two different places where he lives but it was not anywhere. I called HSN and they said it was left at the dock and someone by the name of Dennis signed for it? My son lives in a condo no where near any Dock nor knows a Dennis. They immediately sent out another portable charger to my son. I told them we could wait until Monday and see if it shows up by UPS. She then looked at all the crazy tracking info and was amazed at it. She insisted on sending another one now. She said if my son ever gets it just let them know and sent it back-which is what he would do anyways. The girl was very nice. I don't believe my son will ever get it but it would nice to know where it went. HSN will put an inquiry out to try and see where it went also.
