Hi Lynnj, I posted this question a month ago to dooBdoo, but never got a response from her or anybody else. can you help?

you (dooBdoo) mentioned on another thread that posting Photobucket pics may give public access to geotags ( or something like that) , that contain personal information. is there some way to limit access to that kind of info when sharing from Photobucket? when I try to use the icon above ( insert image), I can never get it to work. is that method safer? any tips on how to use it instead of Photobucket?

Hi Machahoney - I don't use Photobucket. Not sure if they provide settings that can help,hide that info? Honestly, I don't know much about geotags. On my computer and phone I turned off anything that appeared like it would add tracking information to any picture I take, or upload to my computer. Not sure how helpful that is, or not, to solving for tracking of such information?

Hi, Mochahoney! My apologies! I didn't see your questions to me. (There are times when an option for PMs would be great, aren't there?) I think it's important for everyone to read up on geotagging, how to avoid geotags on digital images (or remove them), and of course what the privacy/security settings are on photo-hosting/video-hosting websites like Photobucket (example: when sharing with family and friends, we might not care if the hosting site displays our real name, but on an anonymous site we might prefer not to disclose it). As I think you discovered, there are lots of online articles and I'm sure they explain it better than I could. I'm sorry if there was confusion, but very glad you found what you needed.

thank you Lynnj and dooBdoo, after my second Google search I did find an explanation and went to Photobucket to check my settings. turns out, I had everything set to private all along ( I don't really remember doing that ). so, it's all good.
