Are these home screen icons you've saved for websites you visit? That happened to mine when I bought a new phone. To get them back, I just clicked each icon to visit the site, let it load, and that stored the image on my phone again.

Thanks for all the input: cleared the cookies and already had all the other buttons on. NOW, another minor issue which I'll start on another thread just in case it gets missed here: after the hard reset, I noticed that 5 of my site icons for frequently visited places lost their colors. They are now all gray and white grids with a name below them. How can I get their distinctive colors back? Again, TIA

jlkz, These are called "favicons" and they're loaded by each website when you visit it. Some websites include code that creates a special favicon, others don't -- that's the reason you'll see a gray and white Safari logo in some cases.

As ChynnaBlue suggested, try visiting each site to see if the icon will reset properly. If that doesn't work, recreate the favorite and then just delete the older one.

hth!

Chynnablue and dooBdoo: sounds like a nursery rhyme, but I digress!!! Your solution worked and my " fav icons " are once again colorful. THANK YOU BOTH!
