or a device like it. Or would a Soundbar be an option?

Anyone have or know anything about this and your experiences.

This is for very hard of hearing people who wear hearing aids but like to take them out at night and still be able to hear the TV without breaking the sound barrier.

They already blew out the high volume on their older TV. They are getting a flat screen Samsung that will have all the bells and whistles to replace it.

TIA

We are not hard of hearing but, because the sound quality is not good on newer TVs, we have a soundbar.

It not only amplifies the sound but the quality is 100% better than the speakers that come on the TV.

My friends aunt uses the wireless earphone/headphone and has no problem with them. I think they are inexpensive. But I question in this situation, if they take the hearing aides out at night would they want to wear something on their ears when watching tv? Maybe a sound bar would be a better choice? Also with those wireless earpiece things, if your wearing them, can you hear other things like the phone or someone talking to you in the room?

Melania2, Because the new TV's are so flat they don't have good speakers and the sound is terrible. Thus, you have to buy a soundbar, at the very least.

Now let me save you some trouble. We've gone through 3 Samsung soundbars (for our Samsung Flats) and NONE of them had 1. enough "highs" to allow older ears to hear the dialogue well or 2. the ability to adjust the amount of bass or treble.

Lousy lousy lousy!!!

I saw on TV, right after Christmas, that some company came out with a soundbar that is meant for older ears. That is, more highs. And I think there is some adjustment capability to it. I don't remember the brand, but it is NOT Samsung. It was as some tech show and the reviewers were raving about it. We returned our latest soundbar attempt upon hearing about it, (pun intended) and am waiting for this new soundbar to become mainstream. - Bird

I use Sony wireless headphones. You plug them into the back of the tv and the charging base stays near the tv. I love them and I can hear things that I wouldn't hear by listening without them. I'd recommend the Sony ones for under 100. No need to get fancy with these and overspend.
