Maybe you didn't charge it long enough. Charge it overnight and see what happens.

If it's not holding a charge after that, I would send it back and forget about that phone.

Are you saying the battery icon isn't filling up? There are no bars in the battery icon. If you are talking signal bars activate it and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure you're reading the battery display incorrectly. The battery charge is indicated by the battery symbol itself and not the bars alongside of it. When fully charged the entire battery is colored white. As the battery discharges the battery indicator turns grey from the top of the battery down. The bars to the left of the battery indicate the cell signal strength and the wifi signal strength. I'm guessing you're looking at one of those and assuming it's the battery charge.

If it is the signal strength that you're only getting one bar on, don't worry about it too much. I get between one and three bars in my house (more often than not one) but I haven't had a dropped call yet.

the phone is fully charged but it has never had more than 1 bar for wireless while my lg 840 has 5 bars all the time.. I havn't activated it because I didn't want to loose all my min if it didn't have enough power to make calls. That is why I ask if activating it brought more bars in.

.

I believe the lg840 uses at&t for service. If your new phone is one of the true smartphones, then it uses verizon for service. This could explain the difference in signal strength.

Yeah, Tracfone uses Verizon or Sprint towers using CDMA instead of GSM for their smartphones. Chances are the tower your Ultimate 2 is now using is farther away than the older tower. There is talk on the Tracfone Reviewer website that Tracfone is looking to add GSM based phones in the future (Moto E and others) to expand the options for people in areas with better GSM service.

For me, it hasn't mattered. I haven't had a call dropped yet even with just one bar. I don't think activating it will give you more bars.

rjmh, if you know for sure that Verizon doesn't work well in your area, then I would not activate the Ultimate 2 as it uses Verizon towers. If you do and don't like the phone or can't make/receive phone calls/texts, your service days can be transferred back to your LG 840G (which uses ATT towers by the way), but you will lose your minutes as they cannot be transferred to a non-android phone.

Also, the bars you keep referring to are signal strength bars. They have nothing to do with your battery charge.
