iPhone 6 or 6 Plus???

I can buy a new phone starting tomorrow (that's when I'm eligible through AT&T) and am planning on upgrading to a 6 or 6 Plus. I can't decide which. My husband is going to take my 5. He's never had a "smart phone" before.

Any thoughts on which to get? Anyone purchase either recently? I've seen them both in person at the Apple store. I'm kind of thinking that the Plus is too big, but I'm not totally convinced of that yet.

I just got the 6 plus a week ago. It is big. And a bit heavy. But that's what I wanted. I love the big screen!

I just traded my 5 for a 6. The 6-plus in more like a tablet...6 is big enough for a phone!

Love my 6 Plus...I've had it since it launched. Love the big screen which is why I chose that size over the 6...plus the camera is better on the Plus.

Size wise, to hold it up to your ear it's similar to a home phone handset...that being said, I almost always use either my blue tooth ear bud, or the apple ear buds...I hate holding a phone to my ear...hate the home phone...hated using my iPhone 5 when having to hold it to my ear.

LOVE the big screen...did I already mention that LOL...figure I'll never have to replace my iPad Mini now that the 6 Plus has that big screen.

We were in the Apple store over the weekend I tried the 6+ in my hand, for me it is way too big, even the 6 is a bit too big. I like the 5 because I can reach everything with my thumb, waiting out my contract.

The screen is sooo wonderful though.

It REALLY depends on how you plan to use your phone. I would NEVER carry any phone in a pocket on my clothing because I'd always be afraid it could slip out of my pocket and fall. I keep my phone in a hard Otterbox or Otterbox-type case that is in a felt case in my purse. My i5 was bigger than the 4, but the screen was still too small for me, even after surgery. My 6+ is perfect in every way. I can see the screen without my 1.25 readers and use all the info on the screen and in the apps. I think at some point I'll be able to take music dictation on my phone, not at all important for most people but for me, a dream come true. So I definitely want to have a "phablet" (PHone-tABLET) in my purse. I will be taking an iPhone workshop after Christmas. Today, after owning my phone for one week, I can't even think of enough ways to say how much I love it. But most important, don't buy more equipment than you will LOVE!

I have the 6 Plus and love it. I think it's either "a love it or hate thing." My daughter sent me a picture of a purse she wanted and the picture was so much better than would have been on my 4. I never had a 5, went from the iPhone 4 to 6 Plus, so the improvement was huge for me. I have very small hands, but the size does not bother me. Love that the screen is larger. I'm very satisfied with mine.

I have a 6plus and I love it. Nice big, sharp screen. It was the envy of everyone at a large Thanksgiving gathering. "Oooh, wish I'd gotten this one" type comments.

I don't find it too big, too heavy, too cumbersome or any of those other adjectives I've seen used. I find it perfect! I don't put my smartphone up to my ear, never have (radiation concerns), but use earbuds or a headset or the speaker. I found a nice black leather case ($17.99) with a magnetic closure for the 6plus on Amazon that covers/protects the front and the back. If you want to check out the case on their site, it's called "Snugg iphone 6 Plus Flip Case in Black - Flip Wallet case with card slots, Stand..." It comes in 10 other colors.

To rudy (Reply No. 10) - Thank you for the suggestion about a case. I'll check it out to see if they have a similar model for the iPhone 6 (not Plus). That's what I just got. (I think I would find the Plus model to be too large to use as a phone, but would like it as a mini-tablet.)

Go visit a store that sells both and play with them in the store for a while. Do what you would normally do with it - browse the web, use the maps, play a game, take pictures - whatever you would do with it when you bring it home. I really think that's the only way to decide. Maybe the big one makes your hand cramp or maybe it doesn't and instead takes pictures that you think are the greatest in the world. Maybe you don't like how big the Plus is or maybe you find that extra screen real estate more valuable than you could have imagined. Go spend time using them in the store and then decide.

I think the choice is totally personal. From a size perspective they are two totally different experiences. I could not see myself carrying a 6+ around with me everywhere. It's just too big. Aside from that, many have said that with the 6+ you no longer need an iPad, since the screen is so large, and iPhone and iPad do the same things. So if you are the type of person who carries their iPad and iPhone with with them everywhere,mans then use themipad a lot while out and about, you may appreciate the 6+. For me, the size of the 5 works fine for me to do the things I do when I am out and about, so the 6 would work for me. I don't read books on my phone when I am out. So I think you just have to assess how you use mobile devices (at home and away from home) and maybe you'll fimd that one device with a lever screen works better for your needs.

Daughter bought an iPhone 6 a few weeks ago. She put a nice case on it and also a screen protector. Sadly, she dropped the phone as she was getting out of the car a week ago. It fell about 12" to the ground and the screen shattered. The phone wasn't even a month old. Out of all the phones that my family has owned, this was the first one to have its screen shattered. This was also my family's first Apple phone. We will never. Ever. Purchase another iPhone. Lesson learned. And it was an expensive lesson to learn too.

Edited to Add: As we sat in the Apple Store waiting for the screen to be repaired, I lost count of the number of other people who were there for the exact same thing.

I just bought myself the 6+ and the 6 for my grandson for Christmas. I LOOOVE my 6+. At first I thought it was way too big for a phone but I'm so glad I got it. My grandson loves it too. ATT has a deal right now where if you buy an iPhone (maybe any smart phone - not sure) you can buy an LG G Pad tablet for .99. Data is $10 a month. I got 2 - one for me and one for my grandson for his birthday.
