Also wanted to add that I recently switched to Tracfone in September and got the LG39C. I have been happy with it and the service. Tracfone is great if you aren't glued to your cell phone. It's costing me around $8 a month. I would have loved to have this bigger screen and twice-as-fast processor as the one I purchased!

Will order this - does not have to be activated until Jan 31 and my current deal expires in March so it is good timing for me.

I've been using Tracfones for 3-4 years now. Doing so has saved me a ton of money. Like many of you have mentioned, I always upgrade to a new phone instead of adding minutes. I have around 3000 minutes, texts, and internet time because I rarely use the phone, but you have to add minutes to extend the service length, which is a total rip-off. It makes much more sense to upgrade to the new phone. My service will end in February from when I purchased the Samsung Centura last year.

One thing I've heard over and over again. Do everything online. Don't call customer service because they don't help at all. Transferring all your minutes/phone number/etc and activating your phone online is easy. They say it could take up to 24 hours, but mine has always been activated within half an hour.

Is this a good deal? I need a new cell phone.

KatieB

Been using them for close to 10 years now and still am with TracFone. Over that time I've updated almost each year with a new phone because it is cheaper to buy a new phone that comes with 1200-1400 minutes/texts and data(if you want this type of phone) than it is to add a years worth of the same.

Bought my last one for $79.99 and to add them same to my old phone(which was minutes only )would have cost me almost $120. Broke down to $$$ per month bill equals $5.33. and that is for a smart phone with talk/text and data plan.

Thank you for the info John. I really don't use my cell phone very much at all. I have a T-mobile plan now which costs about $35 per month. It's okay, but it seems the calls drop quite a bit.. Do you buy your TracFone from QVC or another place?

KatieB

Hi KatieB,

My guess is you use your cell phone less than I do. Can't remember the last time I used it for any of its features. I turn it on to keep the "cell phone time" for our hockey games for the league I run. Ice rental is $3.65 per minute and they go only by cell phone time. Haven't turned it on for almost 2 weeks now because the ice rink had problems and we did not play last week.

I didn't buy it for the features even though I am what many consider an "electronic geek". I have never and will never be into all this "mobile electronic nonsense". I have this phone to use for emergencies only and to get this much phone for that price? No reason to pay $40 more just to add minutes to my old phone for a year, so I always upgrade. When I transferred my minutes to the new phone it was over 4,000 minutes/texts and data added to the 1200 that came with this phone. Still have over 3,900 of those left on it.

TracFone uses both AT&T and T-Mobile for their providers and I have yet to have a dropped call. Now my wife has a high $$$ Samsung Galaxy SIII with Virgin Mobile and at times she cannot even make a call from her phone out of our house, so she uses mine. Bought her a Samsung SIII when she was in the hospital for emergency surgery the first of this month.

This Galaxy SIII will be using Sprint as her cell provider so we will see if it is better than Virgin Mobile when she activates it.

I've bought all of our TracFones and both Samsung Galaxy phones for my wife from hsn.

Might want to check this out.

The upcoming TSV runs on Verizon network. Please make sure it works where you call.

Like Nutmeg said, this phone runs on Verizon. So far, all the Tracfone smartphones run on Verizon. If the model number ends in a "c", it runs on Verizon or Sprint. If the model number ends in a "g", it runs on AT&T or T-Mobile.

didiville- if you transfer minutes from another tracfone, your new year of service will be added and start after your old expiration date. Win-Win!

This price is higher than other tsvs because this smartphone is smarter than those in the past. You are paying more for a better phone - bigger screen, higher resolution, front & rear cameras. 5Mp camera, the list goes on...
