I have a Samsung S4 LUV my phone. I have this phone since last summer.

You may want to consider putting your photos on Google Drive. You only need the app.

Please check Verizon web site.

I'm trying to decide which to purchase. (I will not be getting the Iphone 6 as it is not part of the package deal) I presently have an Android phone (Droid Incredible for the past 4 years and I have loved it) and know I can't transfer my photos to the IPhone which makes me sad. I will be sticking with Verizon since that works the best in my area.

It is between these two choices. Will not be playing games or music. I do the usual....call, test, facebook, twitter, camera, etc. People seem to have strong feelings toward one or the other.

Thanks.

I have an iPhone 5s and my husband has the Samsung Galaxy. We've had them about 2 months.

Personally, I'm NOT in love with the iPhone and nearly returned it for the Samsung. My husband loves his Samsung. For some reason, the Samsung is more user friendly for both of us.

I fell for all the hype with the iPhone and shouldn't have. When my contract is up with Verizon, I won't be getting another iPhone.

My daughter sold cell phones for awhile. She hated the iPhone! All I wanted was an iPhone b/c I bought into the hype! Well, I got one against my daughter's advice. Sheepishly, I returned it within the week for a Galaxy III phone. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Galaxy. The problem I had with the iPhone is you cannot use the phone itself to change things. My droid is sooooo user friendly. The screen is larger....better for all the things you want to do. I listen to some music on my phone but I also have an iPod that I use more for music. I KNOW I do not use my phone to its full capacity but I use it for what I need and want. I LOVE my Samsung Galaxy. I know there are folks out there that swear by the iPhone and love it and that is great!!!

I WILL be getting another Galaxy when I need to get another phone!

Good luck!

I'm in the same situation, but after talking to a crowd of friends recently, they all slammed the Samsung in favor of Iphone. I currently have an old Iphone 4s and my contract has been up for a while. I think I'll stay with the Iphone brand and get the 6 when it comes out.

I love the big screen of my Samsung Note 3. My daughter has the Samsung Galaxy 5 and loves hers too. Mine is slightly bigger than hers and has the S-pen. Hers is a little smaller which is a bit easier to carry and has a slightly better camera. Hers is really nice too. In fact, if I were purchasing right now, it would be a hard call on which I would get.

I don't like the Iphone's smaller screen. However the IPhone 6 is suppose to have a larger screen. You can't personalize the IPhone as much as the Samsung phones.

I love the personalization of the Samsungs!!! You can have it set for YOUR needs. I would pick Samsung over IPhone.

All my grandkids have Iphones, so I have seen them enough to compare products even though I haven't owned one.

Oceanjade, I have the same decision to make as soon as my contract ends in a couple of months. My DH and I have flip phones now and they wouldn't let me upgrade unless I wanted to pay $85.00 a month extra until my contract ended. My DH still wants his flip phone so I need to decide between a IPhone or a Samsung. Family members all have IPhones but if I get a Samsung will I be able to text to their IPhones as I was told I couldn't.

I'm curious. In what way can you personalize a Samsung but not an iPhone?

With a Samsung, you customize practically everything. I have mine so that if the screen is black, I just push one button and all that shows is My name, time, day and date. I also have 5 icons that I can swipe to automatically open without unlocking the phone. One of them is the camera. That way I can have it ready fast to take pics.

I can have two windows open at once if I want. I choose not to though since I want the whole screen to do what I want.

If you google IPhone vs. Samsung customization, you can read.

There are too many things to mention.

Edit: In fact, you can customize about everything on a Samsung which makes it "your" phone.

You can text to other family members. I text to my GD all the time from my Samsung to her IPhone. I know my friend has an Ipad and they have a special texting app/feature that I can't text to her on from my Kindle or phone. Maybe that is what they are thinking about.

Hi, mima!

Thanks, mima! I only did some quick checks online before asking, and saw a few things which were comparisons (2013) prior to today's models and operating systems.

As an example, on the iPhone, you do have immediate access to the camera even with the lock screen.

The other things you mention wouldn't be worth it to me for the trade-off, with such problems as the lower level of safety/security/quality of apps on a Samsung. However, it's always a matter of personal preference after researching and weighing the pros and cons. I'm happy when others are happy!

I'm sure Iphones are more customizable now. My granddaughter's phone is an older model. Not the newest. That is the only one I've used.

I just love my big screen. My other two GD's have the IPhone 5 and they are really small screens. I have not played with theirs though.

I have an iPhone and my husband has the galaxy. Personally, I think his galaxy takes better pictures than my phone. That being said, I think the iPhone is easier and quicker to use.

dooBdoo---re photos....I just have them in my camera and I love to look at them on a regular basis. I transferred them from my first phone to my present phone (both Androids). However, if I went with the IPhone, I would not be able to transfer them. None of my photos are on my computer - they are just on my camera. Those photos are impt to me. Now, if I learned how to get them on my computer, I guess I would still want them on my camera. I'm still thinking about this.

The size of the IPhone's present screen is like mine now and I would like a larger screen however, this "special deal" (monthly fee) would only be for the IPhone 5s or Samsung Galaxy. IPhone 6 would be considered too new to have this special deal (I have been on a non-contract with Verizon for the past year. In this past year, the rates have gone down considerably)

Either way, especially with the Samsung Galaxy, I know I wouldn't do it justice with all the 'customization' features. I don't have childen or young people around to show me the 'ins and outs' of using these phones so I'm sure I would never learn all that it can do.

For the people who don't care for the Iphone, what about it don't you like, besides the smaller size?
