On 9/10/2014 happy housewife said:
On 9/8/2014 Tgbtg said:
On 9/8/2014 Stargazer77 said:
On 9/8/2014 kachina624 said: I buy a new Tracfone every year when someone has a "deal" on them. I put the minutes on my old LG840g, and ditch the new phone. It's too much trouble switching all my contacts over and the old phone works perfectly so why change? I use my phone for about $7/mo.

Could you tell me how exactly you do that? My grandma has the Big Easy Tracfone (the one with the larger buttons). I bought it last year for her from HSN and set it up. Her year just came due so I bought the same thing (it was on sale for 40 dollars, 1 year of service and 400 minutes), and I switched everything over from the old Tracfone to the new Tracfone. I would love to be able to just add minutes and time to her existing phone like you did.

By the way, if you ever decide you'd like a new phone, you can use Bluetooth to send your contacts over from your old phone to your new phone. It's pretty simple.

I'd like to know, too. I'm assuming you would just get the pin for the promotional minutes and then add it to your current phone via CS or online?

You can add min using your phone or the website or you can purchase an airtime card somewhere like Walmart that adds min. You DO NOT need to buy a new phone in order to get min. My DH does not use his phone much so he only buys the minimum 2 months airtime card (that includes the min) at a time. He usually gets them from walmart.

I think we were interested in how the poster applied the minutes to a current phone, because you can purchase phones with 1500 minutes for around $80. Since then, I have read that the non-smart phone promotional minutes are coded to only work with non-smart phones and can't be applied to androids.

I needto buy a cellphone and am interested in the no-contract cellphones that Tracfone offers. I was looking at the LG Dynamic2 but I heard rumors of a few new models coming out soon. I know the second I buy this the new models will be out! Does anyone here have any info on this? I wouldn't mind waiting a month or so but if they're not coming out til next year I would buy one sooner.TIA

If you are waiting to get the "newest and greatest" in any electronic device, including cell phones? You will never be buying one. Technology changes by the day and many times even sooner.

I've had at least 8-9 different TracFones and several different brands. Each one was bought new from hsn because my expiration dates(always 12 months when I buy new phones)were coming near. Each one was an upgraded phone.

Been into the electronic field since the 1950's and anyone waiting to the latest and greatest? Keep on waiting because it ain't going to happen. Find one that does everything you think you need and buy one when you are ready. Give up the "waiting for a new model" because there will always be a newer model shortly down the pike after you purchase one that works for you.

Just a suggestion along with the reality of technology in this age of technological daily advances.

I just received the LG Olympus II and I like it. The 1200 minutes last a year, even the minutes I had transferred over to the new phone. The other LG phone I had wouldn't pick up a signal in my house so I would have to go outside if I wanted to use the cell phone. I basically use it as a phone for emergencies while on the road. Now that it works inside my house I may give up my land line. This is a low end smart phone....better than my previous LG which was a wannabe smart phone. The camera is only 3mg but that's OK because this phone is only costing me $10 a month as I don't us a lot of minutes. Gail

I am in the same boat. I currently have Straight Talk and have been happy with it, but since retiring, don't even need their lowest priced plan. So I am waiting for a Tracfone smartphone TSV from either the Q or HSN. These two phones are supposed to be coming out soon, and I believe this information is correct, because the online tutorials are already posted on the Tracfone website. Whichever phone comes out first will be the one that I will get. The LG L34C Optimus Fuel has the latest OS (Kitkat 4.4) but only has a 3.5 in. screen. The Samsung Galaxy Ace Style S765C has the Jelly Bean OS 4.3, but has a 4 in. screen, front and back cameras, and good graphics. Here is information on both phones. HTH!

http://tracfonereviewer.blogspot.com/2014/06/lg-l34c-optimus-fuel-review.html

http://tracfonereviewer.blogspot.com/2014/06/samsung-galaxy-ace-style-s765c-coming.html

Sorry...I can't get the second link to insert, but you can copy and paste the link in your address bar...

ETA: I am waiting to get one from either shopping network, because I can get the best deal there...the phone, a year's worth of minutes, a car charger, house charger, etc.

I have the LG Olympus tracfone and I'm quite happy with it. And the price was phenomenal - $179 included the phone , 1200 min each of talk, text and data. And it triples any min you buy. Plus a year of service and an additional 2 year warranty. So for about $15 a month I have a smartphone that does everything I want it to do. Does it do everything a $600 phone does - of course not , but it does all i need and a whole lot more.

i would also like to add that tracfone has great service too - i have never been without service.

I have the LG Optimus Dynamic 2 and really like it. I've had a few Tracfone's, the semi-smart models, and wanted an Android based phone. I liked this one because it had one of the more up to date Android systems (for Tracfone) and a larger screen compared to other models. I bought it Memorial Day weekend on the other channel for 110 with free shipping. They don't seem to have very many models listed for sale so maybe they'll be getting a fresh batch in soon. I would bet new models will be coming out around October, but that's just my opinion.

Not everyone wants, needs or can afford an i phone or a $600 Samsung phone. If that is what you want/need - fine - it's available. But to infer they are the only reasonable thing to buy is very shortsighted. Many of us do not need that much technology! Some of us actually put our phones down and do other things in the course of a day. Go figure!

I'm glad I waited until today because it was $50 more a couple of weeks ago and $20 more just the other day. This will be a major upgrade from my flip phone! I'm not a heavy cellphone user and hope I'll be happy with this.

Potential customers must keep in mind that manufacturers many times do not give the "exact date of release" of new products. Why? Because they do not want their distributors to get stuck with tons of the previous models.

I'll stick with what I said in my other post. If the phone you can get now does everything you want it to do? What's the point of waiting? The only reason I see is being able to say I have XYZ model, or something similar.

I've ordered the newest/latest greatest electronics going back into the 1970's when it was via "mail order". By the time I received it a new model was pretty close to being released. Nothing has changed to make that any better, in fact with the rapidity of technology nowadays it is even worse if you plan on being able to say I have the latest.

On 9/1/2014 jordan2 said: I decided to get the LG Optimus Dynamic 2 from HSN. It's $99.99 with free shipping and 5 easy payments. I'm glad I waited until today because it was $50 more a couple of weeks ago and $20 more just the other day. This will be a major upgrade from my flip phone! I'm not a heavy cellphone user and hope I'll be happy with this.

jordan2, THANK YOU for posting about this! I couldn't find it on the HSN website by just typing in tracfone. I had to type in the brand/style, and up it came! I ordered it and am excited to get it. If a new android Tracfone comes out in the next month or so, that's okay...this phone has good reviews and is a great price. For anyone else who is interested, the item number is 3 7 4 - 6 2 4.

I like to wait and see the reviews to see if there are any problems. I know there was a clock problem with some of the Samsung Galaxy Centura tracphones when they came out. I'm not sure if it's been resolved, but that was one reason why I chose the LG Optimus Dynamic 2 over the Samsung Galaxy Centura.

Thanks for posting the item number. I think that's a great deal. Too bad it doesn't come up when you do a Tracfone search, which is what I always do. I hope you love your new phone!

Buy one that you are comfortable with because the next day there will be something new out so don't think about that.

I have a Samsung Centura smartphone and I love it. But if you just need a phone my old one was an LG and I think that they are probably the best phones. I liked the fact that I could call and get good reception while standing next to someone who was paying many $ a month and was looking for a signal. Just one of those HEHE moments in life.......
