Right, but when you paste it into Word, do you use "device independent bitmap?". Then it's not linked to the site, but rather the Word doc. Try that, and then copy/paste from Word.

I used PaintBrush a long time ago to hand draw a silhouette, which I copied onto a Microsoft Word document. From there, I then tried to copy the silhouette into an on-line course document that I am teaching. It never copied. I just got the empty box and the little hieroglyph at the top corner.

Why do some clip art things not copy, and why did my silhouette not copy from my Word document?

Any remedy?

TY!

Do you have the original artwork, and did you have it as a .jpg? Sometimes I can drag the cursor over a photo and then copy it that way. Do you happen to have "Snipping Tool"? You could try that if you do.

Do you currently have the Microsoft Word program on this computer? Without it, of course, you cannot open docs that are saved in that format.

Windows 2000 - XP.

I have no probs opening any of my documents. It's just in copying...

It will do the same thing here....

See?

I have no idea of what that snipping tool is.

edit: Well, when I pasted in my copied silhouette here, that same empty box w/ the hieroglyph was there, but in my post, it's gone!

No problem copying w/ special pasting in Word.

I'm sure it has to do w/ the program the college is working with (WebStudy). (But it also doesn't work here.)

Thanks, anyway! I'll fool around with it some more, and then ask the IT people at college.

(scrunchy face)

"device independent bitmap" ? My original drawing was saved as a Bitmap image. The image I attempt to copy into WebStudy, I don't use that original, but what I've already copied in a Word document.

I guess my Q is, where would I see "device independent bitmap" ? Instead of copy/paste, you have to use "paste special" and then select device independent bitmap from the choices. Sometimes I can copy/paste for work, but some websites it has to be "independent" before I can use it in other applications. If not, I get that blank thing you are talking about when I try to paste it.
