Buy the iPad at the Apple Store and the case on sale at Walmart.

I buy my Apple products usually at Apple directly but did buy an iPad Mini with retina display a few months ago at Staples. There was $50.00 off at Best Buy on Apple iPads and I am quite a ways from there so Staple's matched the price. I always put the added warranty on my Apple products so it wouldn't matter where you buy it. I know it never is a problem with Apple. They are suppose to be the same if an authorized Dealer of Apple products.

eBay has some great Apple product cases. I got the case for the iPad Mini for $16.00 at eBay and Staples wanted $49.99. Same brand and color.

Hopes this helps. There are no electronics as good as Apple products and Customer Service-my opinion.

No, it doesn't matter. Make sure you only buy from authorized Apple resellers. Never buy one from sites like E-bay or Craig's list. You don't know what types of "problems" you may be buying.

I always buy mine directly from Apple. I like to get the Apple Care warranty. Can you still get that if you buy the iPad, etc., elsewhere?

Yes and you should register your device at Apple.com.

This is information from Apple site about Apple Care. I would call the support number with your questions and concerns.

Purchase AppleCare+ with your new iPad. Or buy it within 30 days of your iPad purchase:

At an Apple Retail Store (inspection of iPad and proof of purchase are required)
OR call (800) 275-2273 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase)

I purchased mine at Target and received a $50 gift card. I ordered it online so I could use Ebates and picked it up at the store. For a great well-made leather cover buy Bear Motion from Amazon.

I bought mine online from the Walmart..got 3% cash back from Mr Rebates..registered it with Apple when I got it and then got a 3 yr warranty from Square Trade directly at a very good price that also covers falls...DW

It's not ignorant. You have no idea what problems you're buying at E-bay or Craig's list. Only buy Apple products from an authorized Apple reseller.

Bought the iPad Air. Now I need a case. Will be looking online. Saw one case I thought I liked in store but you couldn't use camera without taking the case off. No way!!! Blubird, off to check out your recommendation. Would love to hear more.

This is the case I have. Ordered it from Amazon. I'm pretty happy with it. It's only slipped one time in portrait and never in landscape. Most of the reviews are 4 & 5 stars. Dancingwoman, there is a review on the Canadian site that says it is not a tight fit for iPad Air. That kind of worries me. Great price and features though!

Hi...it fits mine really tight. I didn't see any reviews on the amazon site saying it doesn't fit tight. I've had mine 3 months so far and no problems..DW

Also the magnetic lock keeps the cover closed really well. There is a video in the reviews on amazon where you can see the fit. There is also a video on you tube showing the features of the case. DW

Dancingwoman, just wanted to thank you for your feedback. DH finally chose an Otterbox cover. He is notoriously hard on equipment. Actually, the thought of him with an ipad kind of scares me haha.. He plans to take this salmon fishing ... Yikes. Anyway, the Otterbox touts itself as being very protective so I hope it works! LM
