Good deal on Tracfone's Optimus Dynamic 2...

On the other channel. 110 dollars (free shipping, too) for 1200 minutes/text/data and one year of airtime. I have an LG840 that isn't up until November, but I'm ready for a change, so I bought the LG Optimus Dynamic 2. I hope I like it!

Haven't seen that one and I have all "electronics" shows going on our DVR's on all 3 networks that are showing them today. Guess you are talking hsn or sq. Will have to see what features this phone has.

My present one is a Samsung Galaxy Centura which came with triple:text/data/talk which tripled came out to 1200 of each. Since I have no intention of texting most likely never using it for internet? Heck I hardly talk on it, but it was cheaper than adding minutes to my old Samsung so I upgraded.

Let me know how you like it and I will check all my electronic shows later tonight or tomorrow as I always like to see anything new when it comes to electronics of any kind.

You're welcome, chips. If you go to HSN's website they have a video. They've only presented it a couple times this weekend. The first host said they brought in 2000 of them for the weekend. But they're not going to sell if they're not presented on air very much. There's a nice video on YouTube of the phone, too. The person's name is saveonprepaidcells or something like that. Just type in LG Optimus Dynamic 2 and it'll come up.

John, maybe I'll do a review when I get it. I should have put LG in my title thread. I asked about it a few months ago when QVC had their TSV and MoonLady posted a great review for me. The deals on it so far have been for 600 minutes and 90 days airtime. That wasn't a good enough deal for me. I've been waiting for the HSN deal with 1200 minutes and a year of airtime.

How's your Samsung Centura? I considered that one, too, and watched the TSV from a few weeks ago. Have you had any clock issues that others have had? That was one reason I didn't buy it. By the way, the LG phone was in the 6am show this morning.

I wonder what happens to all the old TracFones. I can not find any info about recycling about these products. I know iPhones and Android phones have a resale value or second life before recycling. Someone a few weeks ago was using three phones one for talk, another for texting, and a third for data.

nutmeg, are you near a Whole Foods? I think they have a bin for recycling old cell phones. As for monetary value, I don't think there is any with a Tracfone. Or you can call your local DPW and see if they have a recycling program or a special county wide recycling day.

I got that TS as well. I haven't activated it yet. Are you happy with the phone John? Any problems with the clock?

My city does not have a Whole Foods. The other recycling options are available. I did not understand why a person would buy three TracFones to use at once.

How funny! I'd been looking at this particular phone ever since QVC did the Samsung Centura as a TSV recently. I did a lot of research and found that the Centura has some known bugs that Samsung just doesn't seem to be able to fix (and that I couldn't live with).

The LG Optimus Dynamic II was rated as an overall winner with no known issues by several independent reviewers. On QVC it was a lot more (and no free S&H). When I saw it on HSN, I hesitated because my current Tracfone (LG 840) isn't even a year old. But my DH and I decided we wanted smartphones and this was too good a deal to pass up. I just ordered them this afternoon. I hope we love them, when we get them!

I'm going to check out screen guards because some users said the screen can get scratched without them. (Just like all our previous Tracfones.)

(ETA: The year of service was the tipping point for me. The other deals they had in recent months on both channels were 60 or 90 days - nowhere near enough to bother with.)

Its weird its CDMA technology which is typically Verizon and or Sprint - yet said it is AT & T...I asked their customer servicce and they said it was AT & T. When I went to AT & T website I didn't see they had CDMA but GSM mobile service.

Typically when you dial *228 to update the tower its usually Verizon. Verizon doesn't come in our neck of the woods.

Please report back how well the phone works and coverage...We live in VT so the best carrier is AT & T GSM like the LG840 phone...

As you probably know I seldom use my cell phone and mostly noticed the time change because it was happening during our hockey games. And our hockey games are where I was using it to keep the "time of day/night" because the ice rental is/was based on "cell phone time". It would change 6 hours, but not every game and we played at the same time on the same night all year.

I saw someone put up a post that said to go to Google Play Store and download a "time fix app". That is what I did but since our hockey is now over, and I seldom have my cell phone on, I don't know if it fixed that problem. I was or still might, leave it on for a few days and watch it on the same night we played and about the same time of the night to see if it is fixed with the app.

Now notice there are a lot of "mights" in my reply mainly because I have no reason now to even have it on for anything. When I use it on rare occasions I turn it right back off unless I am out and my wife wants to be able to contact me. We play hockey late at night so she isn't going to call my cell phone there and with all the noise down at ice level during a hockey game? No way I would hear it for feel it vibrate because I do not hold it. Between sometimes being a "off the ice Ref" and constant stats and time keeper?

Did go online with it once to see if I could browse and also sent myself an e-mail to see if that worked. Used the Voice Recognition for the e-mail and it got most of the words right.

Really not much more I can tell you about the phone, as I said I only got it because I needed time was expiring no my old phone and this was a cheaper way to extend my time and also get a better(?) phone.

My understanding was that all Tracfone's Android phones used the Verizon network. I watched two presentations and they both said the phones used AT&T, but I think they were mistaken.

I've always understood Tracfones use both Verizon and AT&T and that's why they get such broad coverage. Unless something has changed?

We just received our new LG Optimus Dynamic II phones today, but we haven't activated them yet. I will be very interested to see how well they perform in comparison to the LG840.

When I researched tracfone smartphones (I ended up buying the zteZ665C from hsn) I learned that the LG Optimus Dynamic 2 had a 2.3 Android operating system.

This is an older operating system and would matter to you if you plan on downloading apps from google play store. Some apps require newer operating systems and cannot be downloaded to this phone. The other smartphones (which offered only 90 days service) have Android 4.1 or above.

Maybe the original Optimus Dynamic has a 2.3 OS, but I just looked in my phone's settings and it's running 4.1.2.

My Samsung Android phone with TracFone uses the same carriers as all of the phones I've bought from hsn. Those carriers are T-Mobil and my old long time employer, AT&T.

Verizon won't even work in our part of the city. My wife bought 1 phone with Verizon and had to drive at least 5 miles for it to work. Not feasible and strange it is just the norther part of our city, I think.

Is there a way you can tell on the phone who the carrier is? I live in North Jersey and we have all carriers, but I live in a valley and my reception is low usually (1-2 bars out of 5). It's been better with the LG Optimus Dynamic 2 than with my other phones. I'm getting 3 bars steadily and sometimes 4 bars out of 5.

You're welcome! I would not have purchased a phone with such an old OS. How do you like your ZTE? I also looked at that one. There's a YouTube channel that reviews all the Tracfones and I've really enjoyed watching the videos.

Love my zte valet - my first real smartphone! I could play with apps and widgets all day long .

I also watched videos and read lots of smartphone blogs before ordering my phone in April. I got a lot of good tipsthat I used on my phone.
