Does anyone not like their Kindle Paperwhite? Do you wish it had page turn buttons?

Has anyone bought a Kindle Paperwhite and not liked it? I have a Nook Simple Touch that I really love, but I would love an e-reader with a backlit screen and I've read a lot of poor reviews about the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. A lot of them seem to get tears in their screen that let the light shine through. That sounds like a hassle I don't need.

Do any Kindle Paperwhite owners wish it had page turn buttons like the Nook?

Also, does anyone know what the lowest price Amazon has sold the Paperwhite for? It's on sale for 99 now, but I was wondering if the next generation of Paperwhites might improve greatly upon the current generation.

I brought my "Paperwhite" last November. I like it because it is lightweight, and you can read books in direct sunlight. I have not seen a price any lower.

I had a Kindle Keyboard model for several years. Just recently, my Kindle would not receive Wi Fi and Amazon couldn't get it to work again. Not that they had to do anything for me, but Amazon was nice to me and offered me several Kindle models at a discount and also a discount on a new Kindle cover. I received the Paperwhite model with Wi Fi and 3 G this week. I absolutely love it!! The page turning buttons are gone, that's true, but I found that I could adjust the margins of the area around the text to suit my habit of pressing with my thumb (without looking) to turn the pages. The left thumb turns the page back and the right thumb turns the page forward. Before I adjusted the margins, I would press to turn the page and I would accidentally highlight a (text) word and the Kindle would go to dictionary. Now that doesn't happen. I think this new Kindle also has much clearer print and I like that I can read in bright sunlight (outside), in dimly lighted areas, and at night without a book light. Those book lights are a pain, IMO, because they light the area at the top corner, but the bottom of the Kindle was always dimly lighted. My battery on my Paperwhite lasts about 8 weeks, they say, without a charge. Perfect!!

I love the newest Paperwhite and use mine a lot. I have an iPad, a Fire and a smaller Kindle with the "buttons." The Paperwhite is my favorite for reading. I don't think you will be disappointed with this.

I started with a Nook, but the Kindles (the newer ones) ARE my favorites.

I know you didn't ask about the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight but I have one and never had any problems with it. I upgraded to the Nook HD and gave my Glowlight to my mom. She loves it too. I've never used a Kindle so I can't speak to the difference but I don't think you can move your books from Nook to Kindle, can you? If not you won't be able to read all the Nook books you bought/downloaded when you use the Kindle.

Feel free to let us know if that's not true but it may be a deciding factor for you.

KJPA, I haven't purchased too many Nook books and what I have purchased was on sale. I mostly check books out of my local library. I also have a bunch of free books, but if they didn't transfer to the Kindle (which I don't think they do), that would be OK. I'm glad you and your mom have had good luck with your Glowlight. I like it, but I've just read too many bad reviews to be comfortable buying it for myself.

I also read on my iPad Mini at night, but I have an Otterbox on it and it's heavy. Before that I used a book light on my Nook, but the light was always too bright for me. It was best when the batteries wore down. But then you could barely see the bottom of the page.

The next generation of electronics always improves, but people waiting for the next generation sometimes wait and never buy anything. The new one is always around the corner! LOL!!

I pay for one many times over because I get free books from Amazon, the library, and buy some of the books on sale for $1.99.

I wish I could move my paperbacks and hardbacks to my Nook! I would gladly give Barnes & Noble all of them if they would give me digital versions. I love to re-read my books but now it's hard to hold a book, especially a hardback. Plus they take up space I don't want to give up for them.

I bought a Paperwhite in October for easier reading than my Nook tablet gave me. I absolutely love it. It is so light and easy to manage that when my husband needs a new ereader that he wants a Papershite, too.

You can move your nook books to your kindle. There is an Nook app at a website called 1mobile.com - you have to uncheck some settings in the Kindle to let it accept apps from other sources. I did this with my Kindle Fire HD. When you first turn on the Nook app it tells you that it doesn't support books in this format but it will download them and you can read them.

Last year I purchased a Kindle paperwhite, I was excited about the built-in booklight as I had the least expensive Kindle with manual controls and always loved it. Using a clip-on light worked but was bulky and needed batteries. So, purchased the paperwhite...however I did not care for the "swiping" of the screen to turn pages. I really missed my buttons. Seemed I was always swiping accidentally and then had to go back and find the page I was on. Loved the built-in booklight though. Gave it a week's try but decided I liked my original Kindle better so returned the paperwhite. What I want is my manual controls with a built-in booklight - do those exist?? I still love my kindle.....

Oooh, exciting. I think they usually release the new Kindles in the fall, so we still have a few more months. I was reading on my Nook today and decided I really like page turn buttons. I think it depends how I'm reading. If I'm sitting up like a normal person I swipe, but if I'm laying in bed on my side I like the page turn buttons on either side of my Nook.

I got my for ereader - Paperwhite Christmas 2012. I'm used to tapping the screen from the iPod touch. The only time I really swipe the screen is to wake up the Paperwhite. I do a light tap when turning pages.

I have a Kindle HDX--I got it as an upgrade to the Paperwhite and I'd never go back. The backlit screen, the hi resolution and the speakers are absolutely great. I even use it as a tablet when I travel, if the hotel has guest wifi. It's incredible.

If you could only have one device and you need to do everything, I agree that the Kindle HDX is best.

However, if you want strictly a reader, the Paperwhite is superior for reading only. The lighting it has is easier on the eyes. It also has a matte screen so that it doesn't glare while in the sun. It is also smaller and lighter weight.
