I just got an email supposedly from Microsoft that says as follows and provides a link to go to fix the issue. Do you think this is legit? I am suspicious. Feedback welcome please. ....QUOTE We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account xxxxxxxxx (email address shown where x's are). When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in. If someone else has access to your account, they have your password and might be trying to access your personal information or send junk email. If you haven't already recovered your account, we can help you do it now. END QUOTE

I would not go there. No, no.

Can you right-click on that email and then click on Properties? Sometimes that will tell you exactly what address may have sent that email. Often, it's not remotely connected to Microsoft. Can you tell who that email was supposedly from?

I was just using my I Phone to check on the patch status. According to multiple news sources and Microsoft's site, no patch has been released yet and news sites are reporting that Microsoft might wait until May. I wish they would hurry up.

I have been checking into installing Chrome as a second browser, but I am concerned about compatibility issues. Some experts on sites I went to for advice, claim that browsers do not conflict with each other, but I do not want to find out that they are wrong. First Heartbleed, now this. What a pain. I think this might be more than small change, or The NSA would not get so involved.

I don't know if any of you have new computers with 8.1 and the new update for it, but you have to register and set up an account with Micrisoft, now, which includes your name, email address and a Microsoft password. The current security issue is combined with Adobe Flash Player in order to attack you. Clicking on links can allow an attacker to have complete control of your computer including passwords and access to all your accounts.

The only site I have found to be incompatible with Chrome is Microsoft's--there only IE is fully supported.

I use Firefox, but also have IE on my computer. There aren't conflict issues. You just open whichever browser you want to use in order to use the Internet.

I hope everyone notifies friends to immediately stop using IE. Things are bad if even the federal government is telling the public to immediately stop using Internet Explorer.

I think you would be wise not to click on your email link. The news reports and Microsoft have repeatedly mentioned links as a key way that attackers will access your computer and take over. Do not click on the link. You can always go to Microsoft directly, and change your password.

Hi Mindy!

I went directly to Google's website and downloaded Chrome from there. After downloading, I exited IE. I opened Chrome, and started getting things set the way I like them.

First, the installation reset my default home page to Google...of course. So I had to reset that. To do that, I went to my prefered home page and used it's prompts to "make this your home page".

Then I started working on settings. When you're in Chrome, the icon in the extreme right upper corner is a stack of 3 horizontal lines. That's where the main menu is. Click on "settings" and set up things the way you like.

About Office...I do not use Access, so I don't know how compatible it is. I'd just try it. You can always reset the default to IE if it doesn't work the way you want it to.

Hope this helps!
