How do I bypass password

How can I bypass entering my password everytime I go online. I just downloaded Windows 8.1 and it requesting this each time. I never had to do it with Windows 8. I have checked in the settings and could not find anything about this.

Believe me when I say that I am DUMB when it comes to these things. Any help would be appreciated!

What do you mean you need a password to go online? What browser are you using? I have a Windows 8.1 computer, use Firefox and don't need a password.

I understand your question but...can't help you! LOL I also didn't want to 'sign on' just to get to the internet so my computer guru guy made the necessary setting. I use windows and Internet Explorer and love not having to give a password. Ask some your smart friends for help and I'm sure it's not difficult once you know how. (it might be where 'security' is listed on COMPUTER icon)

I have windows 8. Whenever my computer restarts, I have to enter a password. I only have to do this when it restarts though. Not everytime I get online. I too would like to not have a password. This is a home computer and I don't have any secrets.

I am talking about logging into windows. I'm not sure what OP is having problems with.

I have never had to log into windows before and I don't like it. If you know how to get rid of the password, I'd appreciate it.

You don't need a password unless someone breaks into your house and steals your computer. Or your kid's friend uses it while you are out. Stuff happens. Its a very minor inconvenience to give me the perhaps false illusion that I have some protection.

I misunderstood the problem. I'm with you, I have all of my devices with passwords. You can't be too careful.

Sorry, I'm back. Had to run out and buy eggs because DH left the ones I bought over the weekend in the trunk...whole other problem

I know this is not a technical description of what I am asking. When I get on my computer after it has not been used for awhile (not totally turned off) but the screen is black. I push the on button at the top of the laptop and the Microsoft screen comes up asking for my password. It did not do this with Window 8. Is there a way to bypass this?

Do a Google search and see. As several of us posted, it's to your benefit to leave it as is.

That sounds like the password for the screensaver or when your computer goes to sleep and the screen locks. It's a security setting.

But honestly, like others have said, if you leave your computer for days at at at a time without touching it, you probably want to leave it locked.

My laptop never goes to sleep unless I do ;0

I don't recommend you delete a password. Click on the Microsoft button, click on control panel, select "User Accounts and Family Safety", then User Accounts, and remove password.

Again, keep your information password protected.

That's why I won't update to Windows 8.1. The tech that I had problems with erased the sign on password when I got my laptop and I have no idea what it is. So no update for me.

When you go to the "desktop" , right click on the bottom on the screen, "preferences" and other settings will appear. You can make all adjustments (this is windows 8.1) that way. Before the 8.1, you could right click anywhere on Desktop, not with the current 8.1. I got rid of my p. word screen for accessing the computer only, not websites. I found this on YouTube!

That's foolish. The update has security enhancements you need. If you want to not have a password to sign on to the computer, which is also foolish, you can get into user accounts and change it.

It is not foolish. If a person does not want to keep implementing a password every time they turn on the desktop, that is their prerogative. If they have a laptop and use it away from home base, that is a different circumstance. It depends. I use a desktop.

You better hope you don't have your computer stolen or have someone you know get access to your files.

Yeah, I was wondering what the OP was asking about.

I just went to Control Panel, then 'User Accounts', and I see under 'Make Changes to your User Account' there are several choices. One of them is 'remove your password'. Hope that helps!

OOPS! It just occurred to me that this computer has Win7, so your experience might be different. Is there still 'Control Panel'? I would imagine they should still have that, or something like that. Then find your way to 'User Accounts'. Hope that helps some.
