We could really use these as we are in the woods with no yard light. I don't want one because of the sleeping problem. Anyway, DH says those solar lights are undependable and a waste of money. We have dead ones at our cottage that prove his point. So I really need two sets.

What kind of lights are you looking for? Path lights, spot lights, motion-activated or the kind that stay on?

My experience with solar lights in general has been touch and go. I believe the technology has made them better...brighter and longer battery-life...but they don't seem to last very long. My advice to you is to buy some that you like and don't spend a fortune on them. There will be better ones on the horizon in the near future.

I've been buying solor lights of every type ever since they first came out. I've had white, color changing (my fav), lanterns, you name it. I love them, but it's a constant battle. If you buy a set of 10, most likely 2 of them either won't work at all, or they'll quit after a short time. Then more will follow. I've had sets of 4 where 3 quit after a year or two, but one of them hung on for 5 years. I've replaced batteries, but sometimes it's not the battery that's faulty.......it could be in the wiring. I'll keep buying them for my patio area because I love them, but your husband is right........they are not dependable!

This is not encouraging. I wanted path lights, but now I think I will wait. I did purchase the Mr. Beams or whatever they are called from Evine that is a motion sensor to put on a porch post to at least get me into the house at night. DH once walked into a large rock we have in a border and skinned up his knee. Do you think that would convince him? No. The man is tough as nails.

We are surrounded by woods and have numerous wild life roaming around the lot. I have dogs so I need light that I can see "critters". I found the best ones from HGTV brand on HSN. They have sturdy stakes and hooks. I did purchase the hanging crackle glass solar lights from QVC both last year and this year for the front porch and patio area. They work well for pathway or porch lighting but aren't meant for yard lights. IMO.

From all my years of buying and trying solar lights, here is what works for us: glass cups not plastic...larger solar panel on the top of each light......metal posts and sturdy ground stakes.......check the number of bulbs inside the lid (a single bulb doesn't seem to last to long for us) and check the lumin rating. The higher the rating the brighter the light.

Hope this helps your search.
